Told you guys the men’s 5k at USA’s came down to who had the strongest mile speed. Hunter was able to make the 5000m because of it. Wolfe is going to displace the Fisher-Young-Blanks trio you guys love so much. I also predict Langon and Martin are going for it next year as well in the 5k, possibly sub 13. We’ve already seen less talented guys like Hoare and Knevelbaard run 13:03-13:04 this year.
^I meant Olin Hacker not Hoare. Goodness these names are way too similar, Hocker, Olin Hacker, Olli Hoare. Latter two are ridiculously close. There should be a separate thread on this lol.
This has to be the golden age of US mile. The depth is so deep. Today is the first time I heard first heard the names of first two female finishers. Both of them beat Olympians and other top names handily.
Exactly my thought on the men's side, people I've never heard of running <3:50.
For perspective, Nick Willis won the 2015 edition in 3:54.9 LOL. With Centro the top American back in 3:56.x. Insane progression in the mile.
When twin siblings Gracie and Graydon Morris graduated from Aledo in 2020, nobody could have predicted the road they would travel. The twins had legendary cross country and track careers …
Kessler needs to work on his aerobic engine. He's been disappearing in the last 100 in all the races he's run lately. The speed is definitely there with his 1:43 800, but he just seems to be gassed too early in his races.
kind of.
i would run the hard track sessions where he prs, take 15 percent off.
and run 3 miles steady after the wiorkoutinstead.
by accident he is a 1 k 800 m guy.
in the pre race phase, 4 min hard hill repeats as quality, may adapt the body to deliver gas after 3 minutes of 56 / lap pace.'
kessler knows exactly what to improve, run the same, except extend another 250 meters for the win, and 200 meters for the podium.'
not sayin i have the magic formula here.
definitely saying tjat the boy is close and what the focus is.
that said, kessler might have a 142 high in him this season, which still ii in elite no where land .
its a great spot to be in, as compared to the 99.999 percent of us in our best podition.

Hoare isn’t less talented, you just missed his best years
The twenty year old Irishman came 4th in 3:48.4. This was despite several months out due to an infection in his kneecap.. Last year he also ran a 5000m in 13:13.
If this kid was American or Kenyan then you guys would be chatting about him non-stop.
