Fast times at District 4-6A at Southlake. Large paced pack for awhile, then Kai and Caden took off, then Caden took off.
Saw the craziest thing in Girls Varsity, not Southlake girls, but two other girls got into a 50 yard shoving match after one cut the other crossing the parking lot. I've seen slight pushes in boy races, but NEVER seen girls almost stopping to push each other. Kind of entertaining, but I'm old school would love to see Euro type courses and more physical.
Not a chance that was a 5k course.
I can tell you for sure that last year was over 3.1 and Caden ran 14:33 at the same meet. You are saying Caden isn't 4 seconds better than last year? I can't speak to the exact distance this year because my daughter graduated. The course 2023 and before, 2024, and 2025 all have slight differences by the pond. It is simply a very fast course in dry 60's conditions this time of year. It is perfectly flat around soccer fields, it is hard, and there is only one turn that is tighter than 90 degrees.
Southlake is the fastest course they run, but you'll still see times within 10-20 seconds at the slower Lubbock and Round Rock.
21 girls broke 19 minutes, including several who had never broken 20, but sure it was 5k. It doesn't matter in these district races. It's survive and advance.
As for Leachman, I am not sure if we will see her run anytime in the near future. For our sake, I hope I am wrong. She's a terrific talent. But right now, it's a little like Waiting for Godot.

OK, by your reasoning we'll test this at Lubbock. If Caden, Kai, and the top girls run a minute slower then I will come on here and apologize to you personally.
It doesn't matter if its a 5k or not. It produced times that are significantly faster than previous courses that the majority of the athletes ran on this year. That tells you that they will likely not run as fast at region 1 next week. Nbd.

Nobody is going to run faster at Lubbock, that course is harder and elevation. Also, I can't believe the run that park for Region, always has glass on the course.
