You are so sure of yourself that every fast high schooler is doping but Tuohy was clean. Take a break and go outside instead of smearing young girls reputations for no reason all day.
This whole thread is ridiculous and I don't understand people confidently making claims about her height who have obviously never seen let alone met her. She is not 6 ft and even if she was why is there even a thread? I feel dumb for even commenting on here about this.
How about the comments about her slim hips and how she’s “built like the Africans.” Ridiculous.
You have to see someone to make a claim? Aaron Rodgers is 6'2". Caitlin Clark is 6'. I have never met either of them. Forbes and a bunch of newspapers have published Jane's height as 6'. Should we doubt her published PRs also because we haven't met her?
In the comments, Jane's dad John says she's 5'9". I assumed she was 5'11" since Gatorade said she was 6' one year then 5'11" the next.
When I was her age, if you asked my dad (and we were an intact family) how tall I was, and my brother, and my sister, he really would have had to guess and would probably be within 1.5". My mom too. I would have to guess my sister's height, and might be off by an inch with my brother's. I wonder what she'd say if she was asked. Or her mom was asked. Why are so many links in this thread saying 5'11 or 6'0/just over 6'? From a coach? On the other hand, I don't really care. I just find it weird to have so many sources and have a 3" range.
For another HS girl to touch her times in the future they need to be at least 6 foot, fast stride rate, and long legs.
First, she's not a "genetic anomaly" based on her height. She's taller than the average female, but there are lots of females as tall as her.
While Jane is the fastest HS girl ever in the USA (aided by the shoes of course), plenty of African women have run that fast at that age and they are all considerably shorter than 6 foot. Jane turns 19 in September. Here are just a few random examples:
- Genzebe Dibaba (5'6") finished 8th in Worlds in the 5000 at age 18 - Tirunesh Dibaba (5'5") won gold at Worlds in the 5000 at age 17 - Faith Kipyegon (5'2") ran 4:03 for 1500 and competed in the 2012 Olympics, at age 18 - Beatrice Chibet (5'0") won the U20 5000 at age 18. - Letesenbet Gidey (5'5") ran 14:45 for 5000 at age 18.

There’s a big difference between a 5’9” Female and one who is 6’0”. The 6 footer is looking down at most males. Her dad who is also her coach probably knows how tall she is, or at least wouldn’t be off by 3”. Lots of people really want her to be 6 feet tall, eh? Weird.
I can't with these outdated imperial measurements! Use metric, it's much more appropriate when discussing height.
Where does 5'11 start and end? Saying "she's 5'11" means in reality she could be anywhere between 179cm to 182cm i.e. just over 5'10 up to just under 6'0. Exactly 5'11 is 180.3 cm.
That 3cm range is noticeable when you see someone of 179cm standing next to someone who is 182cm. Using metric cm is so much better.
Oh, and one more thing: everyone over estimates their own height. I never trust a random article where an athletes says how tall they are. And often multiple sources can quote multiple different measurements.
Example: the attached link is from the World Relays a couple of years ago. Jacobs is listed as taller than Klaver, but go to around 1:12.00 in the footage, when they stand to get photos, and clearly Klaver is taller. Similarly, she was 'dwarfing' Lyles, supposedly listed as 1.80cm but no where near that tall.
She's taller, bigger, stronger than all her highschool competitors. Her physique looks 25 but she turned 18 in September 2024.
What set Usain Bolt apart, besides his talent, was his size. He was just totally different physique. We're seeing this with Jane.
There is no answer from the other girls. For another HS girl to touch her times in the future they need to be at least 6 foot, fast stride rate, and long legs. And, of course, basic talent.
There are 6' tall Teutonic women all over the place in northern Europe but you don't see them breaking 15. Height alone isn't necessarily an advantage. You see her height and ability and conclude the two are correlated. What makes her this good is invisible. Even good visible running form isn't necessarily more biomechanically efficient as 'poor' form.

I don't think "estimates" is the right word. "Exaggerates" or "lies about" are the descriptors I'd use.
