You are not allowed to have a pacer in a certified NFHS track event. Any race that uses National Federation records are not allowed to have a pacer.

The reason why you see pacers in other events outside of Arcadia is because they are not associated with High School Track or NFHS. The are essentially shoe companies

There is a thread on this you can read it to understand it. . Arcadia can't hire them a pacer. What Aaron did here was in the gray area because he was entered as competitor but 'dropped out'.... which possibly broke nfhs rules if he identified himself as a pacer
All you gotta do is have the pacer entered in the competition as a competitor.
Happens all the time. Obviously they have to be a HS runner, but this isn't really a barrier.
It's a barrier if Arcadia organizers ask kids to be pacers and would be crossing a red line which would put Arcadia in trouble with the National Federation High School for Track and Field.

Look Idk.. I just remember this thread from the 2022 race. Is a pacer really participating in the event if they are there to pace then drop out? Because that is the real issue. Also if it's allowed by nfhs, it would be very difficult to find a 'high school' to bring everyone through 4:15 considering all the races all the best runners are either in the mile or 2 mile which take place right before the invite 3200.
Man, let me tell you, that 3200m boys' race at Arcadia was a big letdown. The excitement leading in was amazing and don't even get me started on no guts. It was all a hyped-up sh@t show. Seriously, this is Arcadia we're talking about! They ran it like it was some big-time Championship, but all that turned out to be was a grade-A dud.
Man, let me tell you, that 3200m boys' race at Arcadia was a big letdown. The excitement leading in was amazing and don't even get me started on no guts. It was all a hyped-up sh@t show. Seriously, this is Arcadia we're talking about! They ran it like it was some big-time Championship, but all that turned out to be was a grade-A dud.
So we're calling a high school race full of some of the best high schoolers in the US, run in 8:39 with a 54 close, a dud now? Man, high school has come a long way in a decade. I for one applaud anything that is return to actual racing, instead of everything being a time trial.

I think alot of this is to blame on the massive field size. It's one thing in a smaller field, but it's massive. Lots of guys were boxed in and making a move to the front would have required going into lane 4 for much of the field. Ultimately the race wasn't crazy tactical, it just was 67s the first mile instead of 65s. I don't think that's slow enough that it would have been easy to pull a big move to get to the front and get back down to 65s.

The marketing of it all is the issue to me.
not everything is about a 3200 race. The expectations people have for this race are unrealistic after the 2024 race. People also travel across the national for New Balance and Nike Nationals and those races often turn tactical or disappointing but nobody gets upset for that.
