Yeah didn’t Zola deliberately CHOOSE to run barefoot? 🤔. Meaning . . . new shoe technology would be a non factor. I’ll go out on a limb and declare definitively that “barefoot running technology” hasn’t changed . . . in the past 5000+ years.
Wrong. Need to better inform yourself 🤦♂️. Hedengren set the national high school record for a 5K XC course at NX SW regionals where she ran 15:50. Fairchild only ran 16:38 at Balboa in optimal conditions (80 degree San Diego with low humidity = optimal conditions). Hedengren ran 48 sec faster than Fairchild at NX Southwest regional, aka Hedengren is faster, better, more of a GOAT than Fairchild. Moreover, in slop, mud, heavy rain, and a course littered with water puddles Hedengren ran 16:32 in breaking the NXN record of Touhy that Touhy did in ideal conditions. Hedengren’s NXN record in terrible conditions is 6 sec faster than Fairchild’s Balboa time. Hedengren’s NX regional time of 15:50 is 48 seconds faster. Hedengren is the GOAT of high school girls distance running from 1mile to 5K distances, indoor, outdoor, XC . . . all of it. Hedengren is the GOAT it’s not even debatable. Times don’t lie. It’s a race, over a distance, the faster runner is better . . . sorry I had to explain this “no duh” to you but . . . in your post you seemed either deluded or uniformed. Your welcome . . . .
Some of you posters seem to think that the 3200 is the only distance that Arcadia has. If Sadie Engelhardt had been eligible to run Arcadia she would have run the mile, not the 2 mile.
Yeah and Hedengren has the national high school record for the mile also 4:26. Beating Englehardt so . . . same result for the 1 mile. Hedengren is better/faster than Englehardt at ALL distances 1mile to 5K, indoor, outdoor, XC course. All of it Hedengren is better than Englehardt. It’s as plain and simple as “times don’t lie.”

you aren't seriously comparing XC times from 2 very different courses are you?
They raced last year at Arcadia in the mile and Sadie crushed Jane over the last 400. Yes, Hedengren is much faster this year but what kind of closing speed does she have? We have yet to see that in her HS career.

You really are thick in the head. Neither Engelhardt nor Hedengren would have beaten the other at Arcadia because they would have run separate events.

Sadie is a lot faster at 400 and 800. So if you are going to compare them at XC, where Hendegren is clearly better, than you should also compare them at shorter distances.

Yeah and who has the faster PR huh? Who holds the national record huh? Hendegren does. You bring up some distant history from last year? You’re only as good as your last race. In her last 1 mile race Hendegren did 4:26.14. Englehardt? Her best is 4:27:97 almost 2 seconds slower. So you do the math. Hendegren is a faster 1 mile runner. And don’t even talk about a 5K. The last time Englehardt and Hendegren went to head to head at NXN Hendegren crushed Englehardt by over a minute. It wasn’t even close. Englehardt is clearly not in the same class as Hendegren. Times don’t lie. Head to head racing doesn’t lie. Hendegren wins on all fronts. You can’t be this naive when it comes to “racing” over a fixed distance. 🤦♂️
I'm starting to feel like this "byu123" poster is anti-Hedengren and is trying to drum up the same animosity against her that the Tuohy cult did over the last few years. Maybe he is part of the cult itself. The incessant over-the-top defense of Hedengren while demeaning everyone else reminds me a lot of that "gorun"/'semihaze" poster.
Would absolutely love to see Hedengren vs. Engelhardt in the mile at Brooks PR, for bragging rights. Clearly Engelhardt has been injured recently, though. I hope it can still happen.

He is. He also thinks that 80 degrees is optimal weather for a 5k and that times are the only thing that matter even across eras (sorry Jesse Owens but you wouldn't even place at NCAAs).
Also, he seems to not understand the existence of running outside the US, as he has claimed that "She gapped a field of the very best high school distance runners in the world by 28 seconds" and continues to call her the "GOAT of high school girls distance running" despite the fact that a number of high school aged African women have posted superior performances.

Uh . . . the US National High School record for the girls 1 mile run is held by Jane Hedengren. No US high school female athlete has EVER ran the 1 mile as fast as Jane Hedengren and she did this last month on a 200M track with 2x the turns and 1/2 the straight aways. Last year Sadie and Jane raced??? Sure “last year” i.e. in the past Sadie beat her in a 1 mile race. It’s simple Jane Hedengren has improved since then and is now a superior 1 mile athlete than Sadie Englehardt. That . . . and she beat Englehardt by over a minute at NXN. So yeah . . . as of TODAY . . . Jane Hedengren is a better, faster, 1 mile athlete clearly evident by the fact she holds the US national girls 1 mile record of 4:26.14. It’s really quite simple. Strange you can’t understand something as basic as this. 🤔

Lived in San Diego for 20yrs. Trained as an Ironman Triathlete in San Diego every day for 15 years. Have run and biked 1000s of miles around San Diego. Including many runs in Balboa Park. An 80 degree day in non-humid San Diego is indeed optimal conditions for a fact it’s far more optimal than the “low 40s, heavy rain during the race, mud and slop conditions when Jane Hedengren set the NXN course record beating Katelyn Touhy’s old record. So yes . . . I know from extensive personal experience that an 80 degree run in Balboa Park with his heavy tree cover/shade over much of course is “optimal running conditions.”
Women's depth is lacking...I get that she's good, but the gap is too big. not enough competition.
On the contrary, we have NEVER had as much depth in HS girls distance running as we do now. The top lists have the names Leachman, Hedengren, Engelhardt, and Blade all over them. Add to that, Allie Zealand just graduated as I believe #2 all-time in two different events. A 2000m race with Hedengren, Leachman, Blade, and Engelhardt would be incredible. There have never been four all-time greats in two graduating classes.
You really are thick in the head. Neither Engelhardt nor Hedengren would have beaten the other at Arcadia because they would have run separate events.

Listen dummy. Hedengren would NOT have beaten Engelhardt at Arcadia because they wouldn't have been in the same race. You are just making yourself look stupid posting the same nonsense over and over.

FYI, byu123 is another screen name of the430miler, which he admitted to in a byu123 post a few days ago that predictably got deleted because he posted some things he shouldn't have.
