Hocker ran the last 400m in 52 sec in the Olympic trial, and that's a 3:30 race.
Guerrouj ran 4 seconds faster in 1998 on heavy leather shoes and tracks and ran 53.2 final 400m. Nobody is impressed with Hocker much less Jakob. Jakob looked more gassed in his 53.2 than Guerrouj’s 53.2 running 10 seconds faster on heavy shoes and tracks. Is this what you call real talent? Nope

I' Armstronglivs and I have to tell you: you forgot to mention that he was reduced to a walk during his HM debut. That he is slow over 800m and didn't have the best kick in the 1500m. You also forget to mention that he didn't go for a fast time over 5000m in the last 3 seasons. Also that Cheptegei with his WR would have lapped him with his intermediate time 36 hours after his DL final win.
He also sucks in the discus, in weight lifting, in syncronised swimming, in chess and in kisuaheli.
Yes, he is the best track distance runner and on the way to become the greatest ever.
But all the above should be mentioned at least 10 times per day.

No one is "on their way to anything" that they haven't yet achieved in sports. Nothing in sports is guaranteed. He was "on his way" to winning his main event in Paris. He finished out of the places. That may well be his fate in major championships to come. His performance record in the 1500 over the last 3 years says it is entirely likely now. Everything he hasn't yet achieved remains pure fantasy until it has happened.

He put no significant distance between himself and the minor place-getters over the last lap. These were 'B' level runners by comparison with Hocker, Kerr and Nuguse - any of whom would likely have stayed with Ingebrigtsen and then outkicked him.
