Insanity in the women’s mile right now. Ayyildiz 4:23, Hartman in heat 3 (also day after 8:46 3k!) runs 4:24, riggins 4:24, Appleton 4:25, two 4:26s and two 4:28s (and a return to form for Mia Barnett).
Appears Hartman is knocking the door on 15:10-15:13 fitness already. I was the first on this forum to suggest this 5’10” sophomore might eventually, before graduating, run faster than the current NC State record of 15:03.

That was a 12 second improvement, year over year, in Hartman’s mile time.

4:24/8:46/15:19/32:28 and 5th in XC. She has great range

I’m not sure if you were the first on the forum but I was talking about her in high school when she committed to NC State and talking about how good of a signing she was for them.
She has 2 years of eligibility left. I feel pretty confident that she’ll crack 15 before she’s done, perhaps even this upcoming season if she stays healthy.

She will graduate at 23 yrs old if she completes the remaining two years.
I recall you posting about her in the past, maybe on the thread I suggested if she strategically (not a crash and burn diet), over time, loses such-and-such weight, her times will drop (to which I was resoundingly downvoted.)
To try and break 15 this season might be pushing the line.

I’m also pretty psyched to see what NC State does as a team in XC next fall. Hartman, Gapes, Stephens (hopefully she’s healthy), the freshman that ran last year, and the loaded class coming in that has 3 of the top 15 from NXN. Fiona Smith may be out of eligibility but I’m not sure. The NC State fans will be very happy with incoming athlete Dani Scheffler also of Ohio. She was the Ohio State XC champ of the big school division and IIRC, was 10th at NXN.
I see the team over the next few years rivaling the best NC State teams from the Tuohy, Chmiel, Henes, Bush, Hays, Shaw, Clairmonte, and all of those women, era. I may be being overly optimistic but I don’t think so.

Englehardt will make an immediate difference as well. She's never been an XC person but a 4:27 miler is a 4:27 miler.

Breaking Claudia Lane’s course record at the esteemed Woodbridge Park is not too shabby for a runner that’s “never been an XC person.”
Why are they letting in fake times at this meet? I'm telling my coach to put fake times next year so I can move up a couple of heats. They don't check.
