I should wait to read the rest of the thread to comment, but I've gotta get to work. Remember how Grant's season ended last year? Being that fit, for that long, definitely did take a toll on him last year. But he held it exactly as long as he needed.
Silesia. 15th place. 7:49 in the 3000
Anything after the Olympics is icing on the cake.
Wrong. A bad placing after the Olympics can affect a runners evaluation of a season.
2:08 is a touch over 10k pace for him, so pretty fast. Plus, he ran a 2k at 5k pace before that. Even with a 6 min rest that will leave the body in a fatigued state that will allow lactate to spike higher than it would normally in a say a regular threshold session.
That was interesting. I don't think I have ever watched an Olympian's practice.
The amazing thing is his back kick. Notice how far forward his knee is. His foot comes all the way up. He gets full flexion. I think I remember watching that on some sprint videos.
The duration of combustion of their peaks are shorter and less broad. Grant just had a down year in 2023 and then an up in 2024. He is slated for a down in 2025. Watch and see.
That is interesting. I do agree with you that the fact that Grant is "always in shape" is on one hand awesome but, as you pointed out, also exhausting. Being in 7:25 3000m shape and then 12:50 5000m shape and 26:40 10km shape all the time can't be easy on the body. But he seems to pull it off, so what do I know.
Where you and I disagree is in how we think he does this. I don't think he is doping.
But yes, it seems as if he doesn't really have a true "peak" but rather just maintains his (awesome) fitness all year round. Maybe he takes a big break in the Fall?
What makes you guys think he needs to be in peak shape to run slower than 3k pace for the 2k and mile and 5k pace for his 800s?
I like making videos and I like running so now we got this. Follow AFXC as they train, race, and out kick anybody that gets in their way. Disclaimer**The opinions, songs, and/or conversations expressed in these videos are in...
Believe he is fulfilling Air Force duties near Dayton OH
Excited to see him training with Grant and will be interesting to see how his season unfolds.
Yes, Sam was based in Dayton as a logistics/procurement officer at the time of last year's Sir Walter Mile.
Currently, his Strava posts show he's been training in Flagstaff with marathoners Marc Scott and others. Looks like he's putting in higher mileage than one would expect for a miler, so may have plans on moving up in distance.
Doubtful he is Grant's full-time training partner. Grant has stated he needs someone living full-time in Park City. While Sam has a minimum 5-year commitment to the Air/Space Force. And, he's sponsored by New Balance.
So, suspect Sam has replaced Centro as Grant's volunteer sometimes training partner.

Good info and they alluded to this in the video that he’s more of a pinch hitter as you said. On the Marc Scott front, I thought he might be turning a corner but 28:15 10K in Valencia. The move to the roads is just not working.
The 8.1 mmol after the third 800m is so high because this is actually quite a difficult workout for him, by design to prepare him for his key indoor races, both likely American records, the 5000m a World Record. You ride the line and hope not to get injured. This is not a snack and cup of coffee for him and the lactate level, reached well before the 4:00 1600m, proves it.
Grant Fisher rare workout, as in he rarely runs workouts?
At the beginning of the video, his coach said, "Honestly, this workout, it's the only time we've done it all year."
He is lying can see it in the way he talks. All these American coaches are big time liars. Never trusted any of them. Only Mike Smith and Mark Coogan has the thumbs up.
Any of the distance goats could nail this workout in old shoes and a hurricane gale form wind. And still have visibly no inertia in their joint flexing movements. Fisher had way too much resistance to himself. Pretty unsightly I would say. He is either running on a full undischarged large intestine or doped to the gilles.
Stop. I had an eyesore with the most mal rhythmic running technique to ever execute such a high level workout. The Josh Kerr one by track all access was a world of a difference. Comparing the 2 one is a smooth operator and born to run cleanly while the other is forced to do the sport on PEDs. Scannell shouting and screaming like a crazy maniac at the end completes one of the most insufferable workouts in distance history.

You don’t think he is doping but neither can you offer an alternative explanation to prop him up either. So you are simply saying you are agreeing with the doping theory secretly in your sleep? Even Jakob doesn’t be in 7:17, 12:46 and 26:40 10k shape within the same year how is Fisher able to? Fisher is seen by people outside LR as a lesser mortal and not quite among the top 3 in the world. The way he flexes his joints when he runs is also highly unbecoming of a top 3 athlete. His right arm seems in need of an exorcism to fix the devil in it while his thighs keep coming up over the height limit for a 2:08 pace workout.
At the beginning of the video, his coach said, "Honestly, this workout, it's the only time we've done it all year."
Grant doesn’t have the look in his eye nor the form alignment in his limbs to be a 26:xx and 12:xx athlete cleanest. He fails every litmus test of such an athlete. Paul chelimo and Bernard lagat are true world class athletes as they present to my eyes both the look of one and the physical formation and alignment as well.
It really is very easy to tell the real clean good athlete from the real dirty doped one.
You made a pertinent point here. Paul chelimo is widely regarded as almost as good as Mo Farah who we know was doped but he himself was clean. That’s how good Paul was. Many YouTube videos from running experts have extolled the pretty mechanics of Paul as the reason for his greatness at middle distance. Lagat another pretty one too. All moved with perfect efficiency although Paul kept touching his nose for some reason. How does a genetically and mechanically inferior Fisher outpace Chelimo and Lagat in the record books even with supershoes unless it’s drugs? He doesn’t even make the cut at entry level.
it's a big deal bc it's a workout you would never be able to touch with a ten foot pole
I don’t understand the perpetual condemnation and criticism. First of all, Grant has run 12:46 and 26:33. Secondly, he’s a double Olympic bronze medalist, and he *almost* won silver in both events. So very close to the best runner in the world on the day. Thirdly, these new shoes allow for faster repetitions and faster recovery. I know that’s not a popular opinion on the boards, but it’s the truth. So the reps are just going to be faster. Lastly, Grant’s form looks fine. Is it the purest, cleanest form I’ve ever seen? No, he’s a bit too upright, but he’s pretty relaxed the entire time, not squeezing his shoulders in, not flailing. It didn’t really look like he was pressing until the end of that last 1600.
I think the your optical nerves are not focusing light at the back of your retina as good as mine. We can’t both be right and I’m agreeing with others on this board that fisher’s form is quickly unbecoming of an almost silver level medallist just as Nuguse is the same nearly beating Josh Kerr.
Pretty form, which signifies biomechanically abstract metadata spatially and temporally, ie, the golden ratio of 1.6091……is par for the course for a top 3 level contender in the world. Only human eyes entrained daily to the movements of runner will be able to develop that flair for seeing what’s ordinary and extraordinary biomechanical form. I give an analogy. How does a man get first attracted to a girl and starts liking her. Well men’s eyes can decode the physical golden ratio of 1.609 in a woman’s physique like her chest to hip to waist ratio without explicitly taking measurements using an instrument. The more varied women’s physique data sets men’s eyes look at, the more he can sequester the set of women’s physique that is most attractive from the group and that will always be automatically equivalent to the physical golden ratio of 1.609.
im both a man, and, a man who likes and follows elite distance sport for decades. I would know inside my retina which woman or which biomechanical form shares the golden ratio ar encodes for physical ‘beauty’.
