Odd that Joe Piane was far more competitive than Nuttycombe this year for the women. I'm sure it has everything to do with Pre Nats being there in 2 weeks.
Also a little odd than Utah got a massive boost in the polls for beating nobody at Nuttycombe. We won't know how good they are until at least Big XII, maybe nationals as they are dodging competitive meets.

NAU Women Keira Moore & Alexis Kebbe tie for first in the Open race. Would have put them 37th or so in the A race. Nice depth. Looks like they hung back then took off the last mile.
On the ND watch - including unattacheds, they took 9 of the top 14 in the men's open. A couple would have been ND's 6,7 in the main race. Insane depth. They had their best men's recruiting ever - maybe - in 2024. Four runners under 8:50 for 2 mile/3200; 2 more at 9 flat, and then that 800/miler from American Fork (UT) who went sub 1:50. They also had four top women, two who were unattached in the Blue race at 23,24. I call it the Nuguse effect. Need some low sticks but barring injuries, ND will be loaded the next few years. I love cross country!!!
World Athletics has no birth date for him. Oh. Not important. He's a true freshman. Did his mission in Eldoret. Has six more years of eligibility... International Collegiate Athletic Association is a joke. Money talks.
I get what you're saying but you shouldn't be changing national to international, you should be changing collegiate to professional. The issue is the NCAA is being professionalized, and now with more scholarships being allowed, schools can basically pay great athletes $40k/year in tuition + housing + the best facilities to train in + offer a degree of their choosing in the best country in the world for higher education + NIL deals so they can actually get paid while still in college.
I will say that I'm not super sure it's a bad thing. Like in some sense it is taking away some of the integrity/purpose of the system, but in another way I love that as an American our college sports are so good that even they've become professionalized. All the Europoors still compete for fun and bragging rights like losers

For some reason, an idea for a “dreams become reality” feel-good movie idea came to mind when I read the above statement. It would be about an unsigned Notre Dame kid training hard over the summer, then showing up at this meet, running in the Open Division, laying down a time that would have made the top 5 in the Blue race. Maybe the kid’s name would be “Rudy”.
1 ND hobbyjogger ran 24:18 (open). Not an elite time but definitely some decent talent
Is course short? Those are insane 8K times for college
The course might’ve been over 8k. Many runners had over 5 miles on their watches. No sharp turns and pancake flat course might’ve contributed towards such fast times
NAU women looking strong especially with Sterns and Upshaw out of the lineup. As of now the big 4 favorites for the podium seem to be NAU, Washington, BYU, ND with NC St and Alabama
The men showed that NAU still has depth even in a rebuilding year they can compete for the podium. Justin Keyes impressive improvement this season is to be recognized running at #2 for NAU. Another example of Mike Smith commitment to developing unheralded high school talent. In my opinion NAU will be fighting Stanford and ND again at nationals for that last podium spot. ND won today but they are on their home course and that’s a big advantage. Top 3 at Nats are already reserved for the schools full of Kenyans and Mormon missionaries.
A really solid run club time. He was a 9:45 guy in high school that surely could have run D3 or even less elite D1's. Looks like he races a lot of the ND races.
Justin Keyes very impressive, reminds me of Tyler Day, an unheralded local Arizona kid who just quietly gets better every year.
true freshman Manny Perez a monster effort, he's looked good in every race he's run so far. might make NAU's travel team for Nats.
Santiago Proser ran a 5K workout and stopped, funny because he was in good position to help NAU win the whole thing. lots of coaches would have let him finish to get the W but Smith knows victories are fleeting, sticking to the program is best.

How can you tell this from the results? It just say "unattached" and there were several runners with that designation.

Yes they will . . . and so do I!
29 men on the ND men's roster this year. Will have to whittle that number down to 17 next year if current proposed legislation is approved.
Team includes 10 grad students (in their 5th or 6th years) and 7 true frosh. Never have heard of such large numbers.
Notre Dame going all-in on maximizing scholarships for its distance program.
Results today do not include Josh Methner. Remember him, the guy who broke Craig Virgin's Detweiler Park course record back in 2019, then finished 2nd to Nico Young at NXN, then easily won Foot Locker the following week? One of the greatest hs xc seasons ever. Now one of the 5th year grad students. Hope he still has a couple more good races left in him.
. . . In my opinion NAU will be fighting Stanford and ND again at nationals for that last podium spot . . .
Before NCAAs, a great battle coming up at Pre-Nats.
For men:
No OK State or BYU.
But #3 AR will be there.
Great opportunity for IO State, ND, NAU, Stanford, and Wake Forest (the rest of the top-8 ranked teams) to see how they stack up against AR's Kenya-dominated line-up.

Note: if what I heard on a recent L&L VLog is correct, the podium has "shrunk" this year, down to 3 teams instead of the traditional 4. If correct, will be pretty hard to crack the OK State-BYU-AR trio. Thus, AR vs the field @ Pre-Nats will be very revealing. However, have not seen or heard this piece of news anywhere else, so cannot confirm authenticity.
