I hope Jakob dont start. He is not 100% free from sickness accordring to norwegian media. I would rather see him go for it in the last DL event than him beeing 95% in Zurich
They also have Jakob in lane 1. Usually that means he will go for a fast time. But according to Norwegian media he has had some issues with illness the whole week.
Well, unlike Mr. DucKerr he is an athlete who enjoys doing his craft (racing), rather than brand-building, so he'll be there even if he doesn't feel 100%.
As the quote goes "deja vu all over again". Last year Jakob did horrible in the worlds 1500 his fitness kept improving and he ran a little publicized world record in the 2,000. One of the most difficult world records. Then a week later ran that incredible 3:43/7:23 double. He seems to be on pace for something similar this year and if that is the case the world record in the 1500m goes down. Nuguse I say may take 2nd. He is better than Kerr and just about beat him at the Olympics, lost by inches. Jakob world record and win, Nuguse 2nd, then Kerr and Hocker!
Jakob mentioned in the interview that, given his recent sickness, there were many doubts in his team on whether he should compete or not. Should he have mentioned that?

I'm no mind reader but perhaps he's playing that up to the media to lower expectations/pressure and toy with the competition. Doesn't seem like his style but you never know. Would be a good strategy going into a sub 326 attempt.

I think he is being honest. He is recovering from illness but clearly on the mend. They have an overqualified Giles pacing so he will probably go for it. If he fades, he’ll have a chance to bounce back in Brussels.
Very interesting. Boaz Kiprugut is in the field proper, which is highly unusual.
I've sometimes wondered if a reliable pacer would ever rewarded with the chance to actually race in a DL; good for Kiprugut if he's actually been given the chance.
Also Giles is one of the highest calibre pacers we've seen so if he measures it right should do a great job - reminds me of McSweyn helping Jakob out that one time last year
Giles should just become a full time pacer for the 1500m. He is a big built dude with great 800m speed and some good1500m strength. Perfect for blocking wind like the built pacers from the 90s

Certainly not . He has made himself a laughing stock, with his constant whines about not being 100% , whenever Josh Kerr looms into view . It's plainly psychosomatic .
Kerr's reply to the question about what's best about Jakob served only to confirm what a douche bag he really is. Jakob's answer was so much more classy and respectful. Kerr should be embarassed by his own behaviour.

He knows Kerr is going to blow his doors off again, so will milk the apparent sickness. The only thing he is sick of is losing to Kerr, not that there is any harm in losing to the world's best miller. It would be epic as fukk to see Kerr get the WR and the Goose break 3:27.

Certainly don’t want to defend Munguti for blowing his chance in Europe at a Silver meet I think. But if the man got a Doha/Rabat lane who knows?

I can picture it now. Perfect WR schedule with 600m to go then Giles clumsily tries to let Jakob pass only to trip him. Laros, Hocker, and Nuguse all go down too in the chaos, but Kerr athletically dodges the bodies like a skillful rugby forward, and storms home in 3:25.
