Fine run from Jakob but Hocker has the gold. And despite Jakob discussing his desire to be the best ever and world record holder at all distances he has as yet none of the big 4 (15/3/5/10) best times on the track. I hope I have to eat my words after Silesia.
He hasnt ever proved he's a brilliant long distance guy at all,and i dont believe he ever will. He's an upper middle distance guy.Brilliant at 1500's/1 miles/3k and good enough to win an olympic 5000 final,in a "slow" race. Thats about it.
He ran 12:48 at 20, and he's gotten much stronger since then plus all the threshold stuff, and you still think he's only "good enough to win in a slow race"? Congratulations, you've won the stupidest poster of the month award!
Except he hasnt. He hasnt broken 13 minutes since then. The threshold stuff has worked well for shorter distances, but not longer. If that olympic race had been run and won in 12.35,jakob wouldnt have medalled.

You continue to desperately apologize for the 5000 goofs. The rest of the forum gave up on that 2 years ago. They can't beat Jakob and Jakob doesn't know who they are. His best chance of that would be to turn around at the finish line and read the bibs.
Believing Jakob couldn't hang with them in a fast race is the equivalent of all the geniuses who thought Hassan couldn't possibly compete with the marathon types.
Maybe saving a little bit for the 3000m record attempt on the weekend?
I don't think he was saving much - it didn't appear like that optically and he just ran his third fastest time ever, which is still in terms of the overall grand scheme of 1500m running, one of the fastest times ever run (22nd all-time by all performances).
I just watch these races and think it's laughable the expectation that is on him. There was an overwhelming sentiment across many threads on this message board that the WR was going to be a foregone conclusion and it was going to happen tonight. If he even breaks 3.27.0 again this season it would be absolutely epic - Hicham is the only man to even breaj it more than once and do it multiple times (2) in a season.
He said to the Norwegian television (NRK) that he wasn´t exactly bursting with energy but that he got the job done.
I agree he was far from WR shape (and his OG shape) yesterday. We will see if he come closer to top shape before the season ends.
jakob very well may have won the olympics if he'd kept it chill in the first half and then hammered the final 700. dude is unstoppable when he DOESNT LEAD the first half lmao
That strategy would only work if someone else takes the pace out at about 1:50. If it’s something like 2:00, he’ll get out kicked every time.

He has the big and best one (3k) 7:17.55. Eat your words up! 😂
