It is interesting because I wonder what the feeling would be if someone stood up after a race and was straight up like,
"I want to thank myself for holding it together out there. I trained my a$ off - even on days I didn't want to train, it was by in large lonely and it sucked but with the help of my parents, partner, coach and friends they were able to support the most they could - but ultimately this is on me because I have to actually go run this muthaf---r and yeah, I did it."
Because I would guess the "hate" would be exactly the same.
There was a girl who won Nike Outdoor Nationals this year that said that in her interview after the race. And the announcer said "Good for her." No hate happened.
Her husband is a pastoral student at "The Masters Seminary" in L.A. It's a fundamentalist indoctrination camp seminary... you can get a masters or doctorate in divinity or theology, but with a certain "slant" on "Godly Values"... anti-LGBT views... "traditional" bread winning man/subservient home making & baby making woman views... women never leaving their husband's even if they beat their wives or abuse their children views... completely cuckoo, nut-job beliefs to most main stream Americans... it's the same place Allyson Felix's father did all of his pastoral training... Sydney sounds newly indoctrinated already
Someone should ask her about what she thinks about Republicans trying to cancel women's rights (forced births for rape victims, risk dying of sepsis instead of access to life saving care, etc.)

So he's not even a pastor yet?
I have two aquaintances who supported their spouses when the spouses were in law school, and then after grad school the spouses promptly left them. Just sayin' ...
No, don’t care and in fact, I’m an atheist but liked Marisa Howard’s message at the trials about how God would have been there for her even if she was last. (I paraphrase.)
Wild that specifically Americans are so into God/religion and also have the worst math/science/reading test scores in the western world. Remember, Sydney didn’t finish college. Not that she needed to, of course. You just never see a genius being so into God, do you?
Making up our own alternative facts are we?
They said in the west. So out of us and the UK France etc we are dead last. So they are correct.
also, she's not saying she's being canceled, the term isn't used. she's basically saying she believes what she does, wants to be herself, that she thinks any response will even out in the wash ("god will provide"), and so what if she loses some business, and she hopes they find her truth eventually.
fwiw that last bit is where she's not being a victim. she's not beefing about her bottom line and she wishes those who disagree her well. i don't think you listened to what she said if you wandered down cancel culture road with this.
i'm not gonna hunt down source material on this but it sounded like more of an abstract "what if" discussion than a concrete one. i've barely heard discussion of her beliefs and not heard of anyone beefing at her or cutting ties, much less butker type culture war stuff.
I think you're mostly right. The comments aren't bad on their own. The title on the video, however, is purposefully misleading. The person who shared who I assume posed the question is absolutely using it for "culture war stuff." Look at her page. Sydney should be careful if that's who she wants pushing out her message for her.
Oh yeah sure, she’s persecuted for her faith (maybe look up the history of that sydney) not her boring basic person that almost never competes. It’s an open secret the Femke is a devil worshipper and that’s the true source of her power and huge fan-base.
I guess the whole never competing thing is working out pretty well for her. Gold, world record, etc. I'd take that over competing often any day.
This Video seems older/ not recent. Not agreeing/ disagreeing with anything in this thread, just informing y’all that this video seems from when we had just left U of K.
She looks and talks a little younger resembling the era mentioned above.
(Shes still VERY young, before anyone comes at me)
I find a new reason to hate this website very time in visit. Maybe I should quit visiting this website. You guys are a bunch of hateful wretches. I feel sorry for all of you. Happy Monday.
lol and this is why cancel culture is not a thing. How did she get "cancelled"? lol. She didn't. Did she lose some endorsement deal? If so, who cares, every company has the right to decide to endorse or not endorse someone. That's not getting cancelled, that's literally the business they are in. Getting "cancelled" is just people deciding not to endorse or support someone, which is normal and not some big new thing that some people want us to think.
Also its just a little cringe when she keeps says "the truth" when talking about religion hahaha. I mean I get they probably all do that, but still cringe. Like, nobody cares what sky daddy you think is real, but if you're gonna go talking about it like it's "the truth" that other people need to accept, some people gonna look at you weird.
Lmao. She hasn't been cancelled, she is still immensely popular, probably only behind Sha'carri for American women in track and field. I don't care if people are religious but I do have a problem with the following:
1. you bring up your religion in every conversation, so much so that we all it's all you're going to talk about.
2. you think everyone else should follow your religion.
3. your whole personality is based around your religion and don't have much else to offer.
4. you think any criticism of this annoying aspect of your personality is an attack and probably see it as being "cancelled" or persecution.
5. you have this very odd, cult-like submissive relationship with your "personal pastor" husband.
In conclusion, you are Christian, that's great for you. But not everybody wants to hear you talk about it in every. damn. interview. Save it for Sundays and your Wednesday bible study.
Sky Daddy? Where have I heard that before? Oh right! From the same people who say they're the open minded, truth seeking intellectuals. They can't tell you what the truth is, but LOVE to tell you what it's not. And they sure love that Sky Daddy quip lol.
Agreed. This is a contrived narrative. Religious Christian athletes have literally been outspoken for decades about their faith and take every opportunity to talk about it in interviews....there is no persecution or controversy here because sheh is just doing what so many others have always done.

which is the kind of stuff bible thumpers like sml ban and burn
funny how that very bible admonishes people who go out of there way to pubically display devotion, it's not obscure it's right next to the lord's prayer
general statement the gestalt of god is vague that is often has no shared meaning, like this Einstein has nothing to do with Christianity and praying
