Update: the Norwegian press has updated their article and it now says he said “you can beat my countryman” vs “beat my countryman”https://www.vg.no/sport/friidr...
It sure shows how likeable Jakob is when another Norwegian wants him to lose.
i think it really just shows how unlikable nordas is.
None of this has anything to do with likeability, letsrun nerds with hop on whoever is the fastest (not black) distance runner no matter their personality.
What is being overlooked in this thread is the Njordas is also giving an informed assessment about who is likely to win the final.
Good point. And Kerr really looked good. But we all remember how good Jakob looked after the semis last year. And we should also remember how good Wightman looked in the semis in Tokyo OG. My point: We can’t judge this on the looks from heats or semis when it comes to the top two guys -I would be surprised if it isn’t close in the final (gold/silver). But who knows -maybe Josh wins with a good margin / maybe Jakob wins with a good margin. Personally I have no clue -exciting…

Njordas knows both runners. It won't be a one-off assessment.
That’s what we need in our sport. A bit of excitement. It’s only an unpopular sport because of all of the dorks in it. Scared to say boo to each other. We need a real man to spark some fun.

I wouldn't be surprised if Narve took the lead and picked up the pace, from 400-900 protecting Jakob from leading too long in the race. You really believe Nerve would help Josh? We will see the truth on August 6th. Or Jakob will want to prove that he can lead from 300m to the finish line. 3rd option Kenyans in the lead, but I don't believe it. The 4th variant, different from these three would be a surprise for everyone, I think. Maybe someone believes Josh Kerr will lead the 1000m or so, good luck with that.
Jakob is stubborn, he wanted to prove, he led from 100m, but only to 1400m. Ok, next time in Tokyo, from the gun, don't let anybody lead any single meter. If Keely and Emmanuel can do it, You can do it to Jakob. We can only believe or hate, depend what we'll choose.
