Cooper, you’re having a great year, but the Steeple is wide open. Don’t try to outcompete Nico, Graham, Grant and the rest of the them.
Think about how much than Kenneth Rooks you’d be.
stop disrespecting the steeplechase. running 3000 meters in wet shoes is no joke.
I'm not sure if "wet shoes" is the only hurdle here for Teare.
He has the 1500m speed. He has the 5000m strength. He's even shown a fair bit of prowess in XC. Those are usually some of the hallmarks of potential Steeplechase ability. Perhaps he has very poor coordination. Idk. Hurdling is a skill he might be able to learn. He already has the base fitness.

He was a really good lacrosse player in high school, almost gave up track to focus on lax (fortunately he ended up deciding to do the opposite), so I don’t think coordination would be issue like most runners who aren’t athletic
Maybe the 10000m. I vaguely recall rumors that Chris Solinsky was going to try the steeplechase before he suddenly stunned the world with his 10000m win over Rupp.

He's 26, so he still has enough neuroplasticity to learn how to hurdle.
Who knows though, he might have weak hip flexors or stiff hammies.

Way back when he was in Oregon the writing was on the wall that he lacked the talent for top national level 1500 running. He was on the same team as Evan Jager and ignored encouragement to try the steeple. People let this go he had his chance.
