Eric Reynolds was not human. Ive heard this argument a thousand times that 70's guys had better races and better competition. I say it is just the opposite. Ill bet 90 percent of the top runners back then ended his season late May. No matter his age. We didn't even know what Junior records were and didn't care. Let alone get to run on one of the fastest tracks around, against EL. G. Rupp had all the advantages and a ton more. My opionion. Ritz took his shot at the 2 ..Webb took his shots...Solinsky, heck who today even wants to try that 8:36 2mile, without being on a bullet bike. The mile back then had run out of favor ...the Gods ran the 2.....we were just starting to understand meters. 1500 meters, 5000meters WHAT! Bowerman said it "You just had to be there." However, I will back down and say....who the hell knows what these highschool guys could do on any certain day. That seems to be what you guys are getting at. Your probably right, guys like Rupp, Hall, Mcdougal are young dumb and FREAKING FULL of RUN:) Just kidding, but if Rupp would have gone for the 2 at Hayward, who the heck really knows. Gotta go.
