Everyone posting hates Athing and Sydney? Then why are we bitching about them? Little washed up trolls behind keyboards?

why do you feel it is necessary to tell everyone about your beliefs as if they care? Look I'm an agnostic and I don't spend every waking hour telling people to believe in yourself, don't look to place the blame or take thecredit for something that was your failure or win.

Agreed. I can't see her as commentator. She's not interesting enough, for one thing, and does not demonstrate impromptu ability. Her Diamond League press conferences have been dull. In fact, last year her camp was so concerned about the questions she would face they planted a family member as stooge to serve up a platter question. I think it was the brother in law. Sydney immediately smiled and launched a prepared response word for word. I have no idea how Diamond League allowed that.

Sydney would face criticism as commentator. Everybody does. Look at Goucher and Romo. She wouldn't be able to handle that. As runner she doesn't care about criticism because she can drown it out via the next race. The public adores her and assumes she runs a full schedule.

Quite likely, actually. Or at least possible. As my post pointed out, none of you consider this to be a possibility. So of course, your responses are consistent with what I wrote, which is to say, none of you consider her retired. More importantly, you're convinced she doesn't consider herself to be.

That's one of the options I laid out: She is but you don't think she is. In actuality, we don't know. I certainly have no proof she has decided to hang it all up. And I'm not convinced she has. As mentioned, I'm 50/50 if I had to bet on it. But that is one of the very few scenarios that exist. I should point out that none of you have any evidence that suggests anything such as she's training and planning on Paris. Yet you range from 90/10 to 100% certain that she'll be there.

I don't place Mu and Sydney in the same category. I'm surprised it happens here. Mu last year took time off due to the personal matters. But she was showing up at meets and having a great time in the stands. She did a very upbeat live interview during that small meet in Atlanta. After losing the worlds final Mu was posing with the flag and almost seemed relieved. She understood it was no big deal to lose occasionally. Sydney in the same situation would have been devastated with bronze.

Then Mu ran back at the Diamond League final. Sydney never would have done that. She doesn't take risks. Not one Diamond League hurdles race in Europe since Bol became prominent. Sydney would still be favored in those races but not by margin and more things can go wrong.

All athletes are a brand whether they know it or not. Some choose to be a designer label while othere's value themselves at the discount rack.

Mondo, Usain, Sha'Carri and Jakob are brands and they know it but at least they compete.

What meet did that happen at?

I mean, I've watched her on about 10 podcasts/etc. in the past year and you can't prepare an entire hour long conversation (well you can but it would be a great waste of time as half of them have about 100 views), so I won't blame her. She suffers great anxiety around meet days and it might have made her feel more comfortable.

The best way to deal with race day jitters is to race more.

She's been handled with linen gloves since HS and has never been allowed (or allow herself?) to "fail" on the track.

If she's really into Christian faith, she should take wisdom from Eric Liddel....honor God by using the copious gift of talent given to her at birth.

Otherwise, what she's accomplished so far is short of what's required for her continue living into the future with her current lifestyle. ... Especially if her WR goes Bol before or during the Olympics. (Kinda changes the hype narrative NBC is making us choke on)

Or she will enter both in Paris, and then Kersee will pull her out of one of them on the day of the prelim.

Y'all are a bunch of crybabies. Always worried about what someone else is doing while still putting up slow times and disappointing performances. Sydney is the world record holder and by far the best 400 hurdler in the world. She doesn't need to show up every weekend to prove a point she's already and still is proving. When she's standing on top of the podium again I'm sure y'all will be whining and crying and how she embarrassed Femke and she's not a good person because she does what she wants and not what you want her to do. When you start signing her checks then you'll have the power to control when and where she competes. I ran my fastest times when I raced lesse. Didn't burn out at all. She knows her body better than anyone else. Just be proud that she represents this country of spoiled whiny brats and wins.

Every weekend? Heck, I'll settle for her racing once every other month.

Right now she can't even manage to do that.

Unfortunately, that has a decent chance of happening.

As a pro, how many meets has Sydney pulled out of last minute? I can think of 4 off the top of my head, but it might be more than that.
