They had every reason to want to prove they really did get snubbed without their starting QB by playing and beating another very good team that easily could’ve been a playoff team. They chose not too, which, frankly, is shameful and, frankly, shows they were afraid of the outcome. Just super lame.
The players absolutely did the right thing by staying healthy for the NFL or their transfers. The only thing dumber than trying to "prove they really did get snubbed" would be to get injured in this farce.
Did you ever think that they could ruin their futures in a meaningless game trying to prove to internet nobodies (or worse, a broken system that completely screwed them over) that they "belonged"? After getting slapped in the face? The arrogance of some of you people to think that they owed you their effort after going undefeated in a Power 5 conference and being left out because Alabama was gifted a victory over Auburn. It's nuts.
They were undefeated, beat 2 SEC teams, and had one of the best defenses in the country. Not good enough for the playoffs? Fine. Move on. Obviously the players did.
I don't see any other teams with this magnitude of a problem. It's simple, they knew they couldn't win, and would probably be embarrassed, so no point in playing.

Uh. Did you notice any other teams getting so totally screwed? I kinda wonder if that had anything to do with the reaction? You expect these kids to:
1. Play games to prove they belong.
2. Win all games.
3. Be left out anyway on a capricious decision.
4. Play another meaningless game to prove that they belong... again? For what? For who?
This actually makes sense to you? You sound like a child.

this pretty well sums it up. Florida state is not a top 4 team. They lack the depth. Other great teams have depth. Next man up! Georgia had op-outs too. All the negative people on here are Florida State fans! Watch the video you got your you know what handed to you!
Florida state is not a top 4 team. They're not even the top 10 team. They got destroyed! It's over move along!
Buddy that wasn’t Florida State.
You’re right, it’s next year’s Florida State team. Does watching Georgia’s 2nd string, 3rd string and walk on players kick them up and down the field make you feel better about the future of FSU’s program?

I couldn’t care less about the future of FSU’s program.

Ummmmm, play it for the fans who traveled and bought tickets, the advertisers who paid good money to sponsor the game, and just plain pride to “prove” the committee got it wrong.
UGa, the defending national champion, was a field goal away from being in the playoffs too. They had nothing to prove anymore either, but they have a classy AD and coaches, unlike FSU.
Ohio State almost got left out of the playoffs several years ago, but they absolutely crushed their rival in Michigan in the de facto conference championship game with their, wait for it………………. 3rd string QB. FSU had the same opportunity to do this with Louisville, in which case, they would’ve locked up a playoff spot. They didn’t. They struggled against a Louisville team that another opt-out laden and not very good USC team crushed.
The optics are not good for FSU. If I were the Orange Bowl advertisers, I would be suing. If I were the president of a major conference, like the SEC, no way would I entertain FSU joining my conference now. Really, the AD and the coaches need to be held accountable. It was really a shameful decision.
Oh, and, the oddsmakers opened UGa as a 14-pt favorite before they knew FSU was going to pu$$y out. What did they know that you didn’t? Why did they think UGa was that much better than FSU on a level playing field?
All FSU accomplished was to prove they absolutely didn’t belong. Go Semen-holes.

Lol at thinking the players owe the bowl game sponsors anything.
Also what was the shameful decision by the coach? Did he decide to have his top players all opt out?

Funny how you selectively responded to the reply.
Kirby Smart managed to not have his NFL-bound and portal bound players opt out. Very curious.
FSU sucks. They didn’t belong. They proved it. They proved the committee and the oddsmakers had it correct. You know it and I know it.

Sorry, there wasn't really much in your original post worth responding to, and I don't like to clutter up the board by requoting more than needed.
I don't really know anything about Georgia's team, but it sounds like you're acknowledging that we had a full-strength, or nearly full-strength, Georgia team playing against a shell of an FSU team.

Reposting for butt-hurt “reer,” an apt name. Because everything here is valid and FSU had the opportunity to pull an OSU w their 3rd string QB many years ago and earn the playoff spot, but they simply weren’t good enough. And they know it. Everyone knows it. Only a fool is still fighting this battle for FSU. Classless program.

Buddy that wasn’t Florida State.
Florida State lost! They have no real backups. The whole team was scared.. Georgia should be the one pissed. They are in the top 2 even with a bunch of starters out.

Well then they should’ve won their conference or beat someone notable outside of conference during the season.

Pissed about what? They had their chance they lost to Alabama.
I was one of those who was disappointed that FSU was not selected for the college football playoffs. It reeked of all that is wrong with the current status of college football.
But then Florida State essentially bagged on all of the members of their ACC conference and claimed breach of contract. Well when you do that, you better show up on center stage. Think the Orange Bowl is the only one who can honestly claim, "Breach Of Contract". I cannot say I am unhappy to see Seminole fans squirming with excuses. You made your bed. No one is cheering for you. You think you are $C and you may get your way and destroy another conference rather than stick together and fight for a better college football product that is not essentially run by FOX and ESPN (who owns your television rights and still screwed you). I hope you enjoy working with private equity to pay that $570 million "buy-out". May PE get rich picking you to the bones, leaving you with nothing. And won't it be funny when neither the SEC (ESPN) or B10 (FOX) decide to include you in their conferences? No way are you getting more than Washington or Oregon from B10 (which is about what you make in your current conference which is the only conference you are likely to have a decent chance of winning in).
In summary, by the way Florida State dumped on other schools and their conference, they lost a whole lot of love and support from the casual non-FSU fan. None were cheering for you and only FSU fans support the 21 player opt out excuse. The rest of us call this Schadenfreude.
Republican Gov. Ron DeSantis said he is asking for $1 million to let Florida State sue the College Football Playoff committee over its decision to exclude the Seminoles from the playoff.
