I'm curious if there's any experienced steeplers on this savage board. Does the steeple events put her at more injury risk than running flat track?
Many articles studying the biomechanics have concluded the increase impact force in connected to a higher injury rate. So she has a higher probability but does every other steeplechaser! Hope that helps.
Val Constien tore her ACL landing a water jump Doha. And I believe it was SECs last spring where several women collided and flipped over the barriers... not for the faint of heart.
Here is Lemnegole pacing that race (Coburn running as well), WR pace...
* Not enough 200m & 400m speed for 1500m. * 3000mSC, too much risk of injuries. * 10000m, too much risk of left foot, left leg and left hip injuries. * 5000m.
Chavez did an incompetent job by failing to detour the interview and ask at least 3 or 4 impromptu steeplechase questions. Instead he robotically stuck to his preconceived notion of how the video would proceed. That's when it's really glaring that these new media types don't have any journalistic training or instincts.
Coburn, Frerichs, Gear, Wayment, Markezich, Mitchell…Orton is currently injured, and maybe I’m missing someone.
Orton doesn't steeple. She is 1500m / 5k (5k likely).
Marissa Howard has the standard, Boreman and Jennings could be factors
Colleen Quigley might return, and perhaps Constien if recovered from injury. She beat Valby over 3k last winter in 8:41 and won the US Indoor 3k title at altitude.
I wonder if there’s any update on Leah O’Connor, ( I forget what her married name is now) and whether she’s prepping for a return or if she’s hanging up the spikes?
This was a very insightful interview. More and more detail on her brilliant training is coming out.
Did she say LRC is known as “LetsHate”, or “Love/Hate”? (I couldn’t quite make it out.)
It was definitely “let’s hate“
Yep, below the video there is a "transcript" tab. Here is what what said:
20:30 the phrase that everyone's thrown around how do you define what Valby Mania is I don't know what Val Mania is people will randomly bring it up I'm like who started this like I would love to know who started this I think it's a let's run thing like I think it started there and let's hate I think we renamed that let's hate yeah yeah it's uh that place can be a bit toxic from time to times
Valby and her teammates renaming this place "let's hate" is not atypical. This site has a horrible reputation in the running community. I seem to remember an interview last year with Tuohy and LRC was mentioned. Her response was "F$%K Let's Run"
Valby also referred to playing lacrosse for quite a pretty good period of time so we do know that she has some pretty good athleticism. I'm looking forward to seeing what she does indoors and outdoors this year.
