Valby is 30 secs faster than last year, I think 14:55. And she’s improved her kick dramatically.
Isn't "kick" a term reserved for people who accelerate at the end of a race?
Unless she ignores the pacer and tries to push the pace a smidget faster ealier. One is not required to follow the pacer. Of course that would be maniac pace but hey, this is Valby so who knows?

It would be no more difficult than what she did in XC.

That is the opposite of the objective. At this stage of her development (and hopefully, if healthy), her job is to:
(1) remain calm, bottling up the energy;
(2) settle in on the rail;
(3) let the pacer do the thinking regarding pace;
(4)…assess body, breathing, etc.;
(5) relax and stay on the rail; do not get antsy and drift out and up on the pacer’s shoulder (besides wasting energy, it allows the person behind her to take her place on the rail).

Reality check needed here.
Why would Valby ignore the pacer when the pace is being set FOR her?
Valby followed the pacer at the February meet at BU last indoors. Dont know why she would have a problem with following the pacer this time.
For Saturday’s 25-lapper, I would recommend she try what I suggested above, rather than the way she raced that 15-lapper.
Sorry, I opened the race and it looked like she was sitting on the outside of lane 1, rather than the rail, but that was just the first two or three laps, and she did eventually get settled in-line.
Should have gone for the Olympic standard, what a shame
Why would it be easier on an indoor track rather than outside? Is that track a few inches short?
its more that its very likely the best quality 5k race that a collegiate athlete will be able to enter in terms of being a time trial with pacers and the number of top athletes entered with the same goal of going fast, not just winning.

There will probably be elite heats aiming at sub 14:52 at BU Valentine, and other indoor races because everyone needs the standard. Only Monson and Henes have it so far, in the qualifying window.

I am not saying she would. Only that she might. The logic is simple. She will run her race as she feels fit. Is it the most logical way to run? No. But she is going to do what feels right for her, logic be damned. (again, this is a longshot possibility but within the realm of possibilities where Parker Valby is concerned.

Could be right but not all pro's race a ton indoors in olympic years. I'd wager many are looking at a Sound Running event or Pre Classic
Anyone else get blocked from posting in Valby threads, some of the time? (especially if using the word that refers to running the correct angles and shortest lengths on the course)
