Utah Schools Herriman, American Fork Have Eyes On Winning The Southwest's First NXN TitleBy Doug Binder, DyeStat Editor2023 Boys Early Season National RankingsHere's a thought: Perhaps it's time to fold New York into the Nort...
4 At Large Teams are selected by our committee to create a meet with 28 total teams (closer to the NCAA size)
Individuals would drop to Top 3 Individuals on a non-qualifying team (try to give a little love to our buddy Footlocker so possibly more individuals will return to the individual championship).
NXR NY is one of the deepest running communities. Eliminating it would be a fatal blow to the XC world and a huge disrespect to the Empire State. Screw Utah!

220 runners total on the start at NXN
Is the first one still a plan?
Actually, I found out in another thread that this isn’t the real Rich Gonzalez
I think New York could have two regions. It would be hella funny to hear the NY haters then. We should add a state to Utah's region.
A big part of the problem are the weak teams from the city in both the public and catholic leagues and too many team qualifying slots. Speaking mainly of the female side as I'm more familiar with that. The teams collectively are not good outside of their top 1 or 2 and then theres all these slow people clogging up the course making it unnecessarily a 300 person field.
As for the decent individuals, maybe a minimum qualifying time instead of qualifying by place because that also led to some puzzling entries that had no business being there either.

Yeah CHSAA teams aren’t very good in general. CHSAA is overrepresented at Feds. There are only a few CHSAA teams that have made NXN, such as St. Anthony’s in 2022 (and they got dead last that year) and 2014, and Xavier in 2024 (they say it’s the worst team that has ever made NXN from any region).
It looked like Chaminade would make NXN according to the 2025 preseason rankings, and they ended up not being close to making NXN
