oh for f*ck's sake. She set the Ramapo College women's record in the 100 yard fly with a 57.22. The NCAA women's A cut is 50.69, the B cut is 53.63. Why do you guys care about this swimmer?????
The start of the infinite regress: why do you care what they care about?
Read the damn article instead of hate downvoting, you got IOC officials saying this really isn't a big issue but you listen to some news channel pundit talk about it instead. Go out into the real world and actually meet people who are different from you.
According to you, opposition to a male competing as a female is HATE.
According to you, downvoting a comment supporting a male competing as a female is HATE.
Has it ever occurred to you that most folks do not accept that a male's identifying as a female qualifies him for female prerogatives?
Accusations of hatred are so overdone.
That’s not what he said or implied, but it’s easy to verify whether you are a hater. Please say the following verbatim if you can bring yourself to say it:
”I recognize the legitimacy of the gender-physiology conflict with which transwomen struggle, and am committed to respecting their pronouns, treating them with the normal dignities extended to any woman, and according them all of the societal privileges typically offered to women with the sole exception of participation in the female category in sports”.

"[W]e?" Speak for yourself. Most here disagree strongly with your pronouncements, especially about what qualifies as manhood.
Who care about an ignorant majority which you are ostensibly proud to be a part of?
You are effectively calling the vast, vast, vast, majority of people who ever lived "ignorant." This vast, vast, vast, majority did not express the belief that merely identifying as a member of the opposite sex was sufficient to treat someone as a member of the opposite sex. You are quite big on bullying, low on persuasive substance, and ironically faulty grammatically in your sentence above about just who is "ignorant."
Yes I misspelled “intelligence.” It happens all the time on phones. Get over it.
So after doubling down on calling others ignorant by adding "mental midgets," and further claiming your higher intelligence, and still further calling those pointing out your errors as "Nazis," you made another error. Hey, I'm convinced that you are a genius and I should accept, contrary to all reason, that someone should be treated as the opposite sex simply because he identifies as the opposite sex.

And I'm the King of Old Siam.
I have made zero errors kid. When I communicate here, content is what matters. Your mediocre minds are obsessing about typos in the same way in which you are concerned about what you will wear tomorrow. The intelligent are not concerned.

What did I miss during the Thanksgiving holiday? Someone want to give me a quick recap? Oh yeah, You can't unsee Saltburn. Weird stuff but at least no XX competing against XY at Oxford.

Ramapo is a D3 school. The A standard is 52.92 and the B standard is 56.29.
More importantly, 57.61 won the 100 fly in last year's Metropolitan Collegiate Championship. So someone could be pushed out of the conference title. (And almost certainly someone will lose the podium position, and someone else will lose her place in the A final.)
You can use words like “podium” and “title” but it’s likely swimmers at this level do only a fraction of the training of D-1 swimmers and didn’t start competitive swimming at age 7. Lia Thomas actually beat some Olympians.

Or maybe they train just as hard but are not as talented as the D1 swimmers. For those who do not qualify for NCAA, the conference championship is their Olympics, and finishing 3rd in the conference final could be the pinnacle of their swimming career. To get that opportunity denied is like Melissa Bishop not winning a medal in Rio.

Exactly. Thank you. Here's what I wrote earlier:
"My daughter who competed against him is a D3 swimmer. I was a D1 track athlete and my son was a D1 track All-American. My daughter has worked way way harder than my son or I did and cares about it much more. It's a big big deal. A huge part of her life."

Training just as hard as a D-1 swimmer doesn’t make much sense. No scholarship or glory.

So you think college football players train harder than swimmers? There is little glory in D1 swimming compared to football at Power 5 schools.

I seriously doubt D-3 swimmers train 3 hours a day like D-1 swimmers do.
You're wrong. And so what if you were right? That means it doesn't matter?
And as far as "glory" goes, as if that were the point, I'd bet there's more glory among the student body in D3.
But it's all just worthless participation trophies in D3. What's the point? That's why only Olympians post on Letsrun. We understand any lower level is pointless.
The funny thing is that I've been around lots of top level D1 athletes and exactly none of them act like dicks like the posters on this board and none of them would dismiss D3 athletes being competitive and pursuing goals. But I guess even most top level D1 athletes aren't professionals and Olympians like everyone on letsrun. I've met a number of Olympians, but haven't spent a lot of time with them, so maybe you Olympians on Letsrun despise the lower levels.
