Is anyone else starting to think she may actually double in Paris next year?
The schedule is favorable and the 800 is mostly done before the 1500 (there is one day with 1500m heats the same day as the 800 semis).
But she's unlikely to be a medal threat in the 15, that will probably require her to shave 10 seconds off her current PB in one year. Could be fun to see though

Focusing on getting her 400 time down next year and doubling in the 800 and 4x400 is probably more likely. It would be nice to see the US women go under 3:16 in the 4x400.
i suppose the idea is that Kersee could never coach anyone successfully in the 1500 because he's not a "distance coach." like only wetmore or schumacher or diljeet or or that nau guy witht the odd accent etc. could have helped a 1:55 runner go 4:03. this certainly would be implied by a mountain of the other bs you read on these boards.
i agree that it should have been a light lift to get her to that point. most decent college coaches could have done it. don't forget Mu has expressed disliking endurance training, thus setting up her biggest obstacle to success in that event.
kudos to Kersey for being the one to finally convince her that she'll need to become a better 1500 runner to break 1:53. Mu called him a genius and I guess it took one to convince her. 49 is enough speed, but she's very undertrained at the other end of the spectrum. she's always been an amazing talent, but maybe he go through to her that it was time to grow up a bit and be slightly more porfessional about her approach to this. for that i don;t apologize to him, but i do thank him....because i love watching this kid kick ass and she should be just getting started!
I don't think Faith KIPYEGON or Gudaf Tsegay or even Laura Muir are shaking in their boots or running shoes, but I am a bit surprised that she made the team and I feel kind of bad for Sinclaire Johnson, i love her moxie and confidence. My guess is Athing Mu will not contest the 1500 where she has no chance of beating the Africans and that will open the door for Sinclaire to go to the World Championships.
Athing Mu is at a lower class than KIPYEGON and Sifan Hassan when it comes to distances 1500m+
Recall the first was U18 Cross Country World champion.
A lot of talk about Kipyegon but the real problem for Mu is the Ethiopians especially Haylom who is only 16 and has already run 3.57. The rest of the world isn't going to stand still for 12 months. Mu will be 22 in the next Olympics. 'On her 22nd birthday, she already is an old maid'. (Bob Dylan). :-)

While I cannot speak for the other poster, I can say that I am not trolling. What's important is context here. Rojo is implying that many people were saying that Mu could not run a good 1500m, perhaps bc of her previous performance at the one mile race, where she ran below expectations.

What was that Rojo? Were you trying to say that Bobby Kersee should apologize to us? Although I really don’t think he owes me an apology at all…but if anyone is going to apologize it is going to be him.
