In some cases, you are borderline cray-cray. How in the world does that conflict with what Solinsky said?
IMO, if they hadn’t regularly been doing hill training as soon as possible, since Outdoors last year, then what she was as saying was, in effect true. From Solinsky’s interview, it sounded like the ‘hilly’ golf course was something they maybe had started doing relatively recently as a last-minute prep for Natty’s.
And really now, how ‘hilly’ is a ‘hilly’ Florida golf course? 50-60ft hills does not sound that impressive.
In that interview Valby said she had just talked to Natalie Cook. Who knows, maybe from that discourse Parker realized her prior hill-training was somewhat deficient. Possibly (who knows) she asked,
PV: “So Natalie, how often do you guys run that course?”
NC: “Well, I’m only on it 2-3 times week, but the rest of the team trains on it everyday.”

The other thing to consider is Tuohy’s and NCState’s ‘visualization practice’ throughout their build-up. Tuohy and some of her teammates had already raced on that course, thus they could visualize the course and mentally recreate it and practice it. It was said on here that they were even running their x-country races in a manner that would replicate what they planned to do at Natty’s.
Conversely, PV’s main concern was probably just getting through the full season without injury.
ya the story kept changing - before the race there were hills (on a golf course I recall). After the race somethinng like "I've never run on hills like these"
Uhhh, the story did not ‘keep changing’. Go watch the Solinsky interview. He said they went to a golf course that had some hills, and Valby did better than expected because of the Arc Trainer. That information does not conflict with “I've never run on hills like these".
What Parker said changed.....I have no idea about Solinsky, or for that matter what Solinsky said vs what Parker said. And no, I would not have expected her to say before the race that she had not prepared for hills. But, between her and her coach I would have thought they would have found suitable hills in "hilly Gainsville" to adequately simulate the course.

It obviously wasn’t as big as a priority in Parker’s development, at the time, or maybe they would have sent her to that Invitational meet earlier in the season to acquaint herself with the course. But then, that might have quickly gotten expensive if the whole team was sent.
Valby seems to be still learning the ropes in this game, whereas, Tuohy has been taking this very seriously, and been groomed for it, since 7th grade.

This does seem clear - although the word "groom" can have bad connotations.

I suspect it has been in the minds of Tuohy’s past coaches, in Tuohy’s parents and in Tuohy herself that they hoped and expected for her to make it to the big stage someday, and they were going to prepare accordingly.
I see Ericka Vanderlende has transferred from Michigan to Notre Dame. Only 64th (team scoring) last year but she was in low 20s in 2019 (right behind Chmiel). If she could find her way back - which might be a long shot I admit - she could bring ND much closer to podium.
