Making finals on time and to win a gold medal in lane 8 at 100 M didn't seem possible until today. I'm glad she's better and showing her talent. Very big congratulations to you SCR.
She is very fast.
IF you look at the semi final, she had a very poor start but closed very hard for bronze.
She's clearly the fastest and the only reason she didn't get the top two was her poor start.
Dennis Mitchell must have given her a crash course on the basics and she fixed it.
A big thumbs up for her. This is the greatness that waited for her. I was really worried that she wasn't going to make it to this point. Her beating Jamaicans made it even sweeter.
I second this.
This young lady needed some love and she worked for it.
She got respect from the media and the Jamaicans. They were all shocked!
What are the actual greatest moments in T&F history? I can name some in no particular order. -Bannister's 4:00 mile -2012 Olympic 800 -Bolt's world records -Beamon's jump Here's an old Letsrun thread with more examples:
I want to compile a list of what people think are the best Track & Field races and moments of all time. Maybe a ranking could come out of it (but nobody would be able to agree on anything). Add your favoritesOff the top of my...
Haven't read the thread, but I seem to remember past threads put her behind only Rupp on the LR forum hate-o-meter lol. Not too sure who would be third.
"Trying to think of what adversity she overcame. So far my list has zero items"
The LR Forum comments is the biggie.
I've done an in-depth study and the stats show that a top athletes performance is commensurate with the LR forum comments, after all, we all know the worlds top athletes read the LR forum. If they're shıthouse comments then they perform shıthouse.
Sha'Carri is one of the few to have overcome this mountainous adversity, so kudos to her.

That would be a 3 way tie between Pappas, Goucher and Cain, although the Cain hate has worn off a bit.
I think a modern day example of overcoming adversity to create a special moment is fitting
Trying to think of what adversity she overcame. So far my list has zero items.
I agree. She received a full scholarship to attend college and has a massive pro contract. She has enough money to buy all the marijuana she wants. She hired a coach who is a convicted doper.
She sounds privileged to me. Maybe her adversity is that she overcame privilege, which we know is evil, to win a race against old Jamaican women.
It's never good when ex drugs cheats win medals, and their results will always have asterisks next to them.
My negative thoughts about Shacarri are no secret, but she’s no drug cheat. Weed does absolutely nothing positive for your running, mostly just negative in fact. You can’t focus, the acute and chronic lung harm is obvious, and your mind body connection goes out the window, turning your head or standing up too quick will make you dizzy/nauseous let alone sprinting on a track.
Run either a mile or 100m all out, recover, and then do it again after smoking a bowl. If you can come within 15 seconds of your mile time or 1 second of your 100m time I’ll Venmo you 100 bucks.
You were saying?
Lot of you need to pull your righteous heads out of your a.ses.
THC has been and will remain the go-to for performance enhancement of nearly all things relying on a strong mind-body connection.

I think she'll run 10.50s.
That's not all Dennis Mitchell gave her.

Some perspective here: When Bolt, the undisputed GOAT in men's sprints, was finally no longer the best it wasn't because someone was just better. He just fell off, like every great runner eventually does. So beating him was there for the top runners to take. The torch was waiting to be passed. Coleman, then Kerley both had one hand on it but Noah has obviously taken it now.
SAFP, the undisputed GOAT in women's sprints, is still very much a force in women's sprinting. Sure injuries hampered her prep for worlds, but she is still gold medal threat; 10.77 is flying. There was no torch being passed. SAFP was still holding it. Sherricka wanted it, but Sha'Carri just ripped it away. I genuinely hope we get these 3 women competing against one another for then next few years. Shelly may very well stick around until the next Olympics, but would any of us be surprised if that 100m was her last Championship 100?
As for greatest achievement in track and field? Far from it. It will be a standout moment from a worlds that has delivered several standout moments already. Maybe one of the performances of the last 10 years. But there are dozens of performances of note that still better last night's amazing race.
