Ok, checked, Koko ran 14:51.38 when a year younger (at 20).
You can take you own conclusions...
I mean why not take it further than Koko… Gidey won a global medal when she was KTs age and set a WR.
We can just appreciate the runner for who she is right now. After the interview I don’t think this is a B grade race anymore considering the build up to it

You do know that Abdi ran at the same meet last year and broke the NCAA record there? The official record. Keep denying and making yourself look like a clown tho.
Give me a link to this "official" NCAA record list you keep referring to.
Yo KT, I’m really happy for you, I’ll let you finish, but Josette Andrews had one of the best 5k performances of all time. One of the 5k performances of all time!
Hey this thread is about Touhy. And stop exaggerating about Andrews. Far from the best 5K race of ll time. Ridiculous
Tuohy’s done. She obviously wanted to go sub 15 and had nothing. Gave all these excuses post race. Must be in denial. Sad her career is already starting to end
😂😂 imagine running 15:03 despite having bad weeks of training going into it due to school work
id be scared once she graduates and actually focuses on running only
This briguy obviously just likes doing troll posts to rile people (Tuohy fans particularly) up. A nonsense post like he wrote should be ignored. Personally I predicted a 5:00-5:06 time so I guess I nailed it. Lucky. But would have loved for her to have hit that 4:57 qualifying time which she can and probably will do. Anyway, not quite what KT wanted but a very good race indeed!
Bottom line is that she keeps making consistent progress and lowering her time. She reached some of her goals with last night’s race. Of course she wants to go faster and she eventually will. Obviously, Coach Henes is having her do things that are working well for her. She has an NIL deal with Adidas that is lucrative. She enjoys the Wolfpack team culture and is close to her teammates. She is excelling academically at the school. Since she can occasionally compete in a race like the one she just finished, she doesn’t need to rush into joining the professional ranks. She can spend the next two years if she wants to lowering her OWN NCAA records.
Jenny Simpson ran 15:01 at age 23 years old. Miss Tuohy just turned 21 and just ran 15:03 after having bad weeks of training and has 2 years left of college eligibility and I would like to add how she earns more than the average American pro distance runner.
Tuohy broke her fourth NCAA record of the year and were not even half way in 2023. She's just starting apparently.
You forgot to mention that Simpson ran her times without super shoes. Tuohy is undoubtedly great, but Simpson was better.
This is sheer ignorance, Jenny Barringer Simpson record of 15:01 is not official since it was done on a modified track. It's like kipchoge under 2h00 marathon. Her official record is 15:07, so yes Tuohy broke it.
Tuohy's mark does not count for the NCAA qualifier list. So it is definitely not an "official" NCAA
The other poster is correct. Same reason that Sisson still holds the i5000m collegiate record in 15:12, but Simpson does not.
COLLEGIATE RECORD
Katelyn Tuohy of @Wolfpack_TFXC breaks the collegiate record in the 5000 with a time of 15:03.12 in the @sound_running Track Fest.
Tuohy’s time betters the 15:07.64 CR set by Jenny Barringer of @CUBuffsTrack in 2009.
I believe strongly that this race shows how important it is for Tuohy to turn the page on her college experience. Ritz did this albeit after he went to the Olympics. She has some potential, but she should be in a pro group as soon as possible and preferably at altitude like with Smith or Ritz. She is forfeiting a good a chance to make the next team if she stays in Raleigh.
Yeah, that would be like me running a PR at 10:00pm when I’ve been accustomed to already being asleep for about an hour. I don’t see that happening. So many things change (like when she would have slept, napped, eaten lunch, dinner, etc.
Tough to do and she pulled it off!
Travel is a requirement for an elite runner. Imagine being Cory McGee and traveling across 10 or so time zones and then trying to race Faith Kipyegon. That's what Tuohy has to look forward to as a pro.
She managed 3 to win NXN titles on the West Coast in HS. I don't think she is the fragile flower you make her out to be.
If you’ve ever read my posts, I in no way ever depict Tuohy as a fragile flower. Interesting you interpreted it that way.
My take... Clearly she is as good as or better than any American of her age and is continually getting faster. Any attempt to put her in another light is beyond reality.

Exactly. She needs to start running at altitude. That makes a huge difference. If she goes with Ritz, I can see her whipping Monson's and Norris' butts in no time to make the team.
And that's why winning a local race is nothing special. Especially if you never did well internationally let alone got onto the team in the Olympics.
It was special to me when I broke my high school's records (100/220). I'm an old fart and I still have the trophies sitting on my bar. We get to judge what's worthy for ourselves not someone else.
