Because I don't think Hiltz would keep preaching about the importance of inclusion if it directly affected her. Imagine that they were to get 4th instead of 3rd due to a biological male - would Hiltz still say that she's the 4th place finisher, or would she say that she's 3rd?
I think you know the answer.
Hiltz isn’t breaking any rules but your biological male would be. Why would someone cheating be so funny to you?
And you’re still crying about masks! You people are the worst. Clutch your pearls all you want and continue to feign scared. Hiltz is asking to be identified as they, a personal preference. It isn’t politics just because you choose to deem it so because you don’t like it. She announcer came respect it or not. Be consistent because he is used to it or bumble throughout the race because he isn’t.
THIS is the cognitive level we all have to deal with thanks to contemporary education in our schools.
Have watched it several time and using stop/start, there really doesn't appear at any point to be a clear lane for Hiltz on the inside. When they are going into the relay changover point, Hiltz is following dead in line.
The gap might have slightly widened (just as the camera angle changes) and narrowed again, but it never appears to be enough for someone to pass cleanly.
So many limp-wristed pansies on this site crying for a DQ in every little perceived homestretch infraction. Distance runners have earned their soft reputation.
I assume the OP posted this thread for clicks. There's no reason for dq here. Not every bit of contact should result in a dq and the board seems to be full of a bunch of pansy distance runners who have to have their own space on the track.
Rose drifted from far right of lane 1 just over the centerline of lane 1 while Hiltz was passing with 5 meters to go. Any DQ would be Rose not Hiltz.
Try again. If you try to sneak in on the inside while running with your normal running form, YOU are creating the contact. Hiltz clearly created the contact because she knew she didn't have it to go around. Why didn't she slowly angle into lane 2 with 50 meters and go all out? Because she couldn't and she knew it, then she saw the slightest of daylight and tried to sneak in. Clearly a violation and again, I don't care what she calls herself...they, them, he, she, us...has zilch to do with it.

Why slowly angle to lane two?
It should be apparently clear that had Hiltz taken a wider angle and sprinted, she would not have been able to catch up with the same speed she was running. This victory showcases excellent race intelligence.
All else aside, I must admire Hiltz's skill and/or luck in spotting the ONLY clear spot on the infield, just past a large tripod, and landing with a solid roll-out. Might have a future in parcours!

Now I'm the one who can't stop laughing...you just inadvertently dismantled the whole argument about the singular they/them being grammatically incorrect or too confusing. Thank you for your allyship!
There's no question Rose has the strategic edge over the two Stanford girls. I posted that a couple of weeks ago. The recent results don't mean much in comparison to the fact that Rose will inevitably get stronger and therefore be able to sustain that front running style. At that point the closers are stuck. They expect the speed to come back. It does not.
However, the loose speed is always stuck with the predicament of when to unleash. Rose made the classic mistake here of pushing too hard during that third 200. That myth needs to be eliminated from 800 conventional wisdom, especially from broadcasters like Dwight Stones. It is the worst possible move for the typical frontrunner to burn that third 200. You've already done the work and established lead and advantage. Why give it away with a suicidal acceleration so far from home?
Ultra elite freaks like Athing Mu can push very early on the second lap. For the typical 800 frontrunner and even at Rose's level you need to save energy early on the backstretch. The big jumbo boards make it easier. Relax and look up there. Allow the field to come back to you a little bit. Then take off again late on the backstretch. You'll stun the trailers by separating from them again, just as they think they are about to swallow you up. And with only 220+ to go you'll have plenty left.
As soon as I saw where Rose accelerated I knew she would be vulnerable. She needed to wait another 50 meters minimum. Kipyegon is a 1500 specialist but Rose should watch clips of her. Kipyegon is a master of relaxing on the backstretch then accelerating just before the 200 mark, leaving no doubt by the top of the stretch.
It's idiotic to refer to her as 'they' though: as someone else posted earlier, "Wow I hate this pronoun crap. The announcer said "they slide by Rose" and I was like, "What?! Two people got by Rose, how did I missed that?" And then I look at the results and realized he was "correcting" himself from "she" rather than actually referring to a second person. It's ridiculous that society is going along with this they/them nonsense. Identify however you want, but don't force everyone to change the way we speak English."
Unrelated everything else being discussed in this thread but why is Elise Cranny running an 800? Is she thinking of moving down to the 1,500? 2 flat is pretty impressive for a 5k runner.

Pretty sure the announcer makes the same "mistake" again at the end when the clip cuts out lol.
Anyway, that rant aside, I can't really give an opinion on a DQ from this angle. I'd like to see the front angle to see how much room she had on the inside. It looked like there was a little bit of contact there, but it may have even been after the finish line. Really need to see it from another angle.

Are you serious?
No sh*t!!!! she wouldn't have been able to catch up.....that was clearly his point genius 🤣
She could have slowly angled into Lane 2 but she didn't do it because she would have ended up short.
How in God's name do some of you not easily comprehend easy points that others have made?
