Half of the races she's targeting this year are trail races, she's done some recent podcast discussing this. So this effort is pretty solid considering what she's targeting this year.
Why does do a lot of people give a rats ass about Allie O?
Seriously?
Because she has a fun personality and can give an interview that subsists of more than, "Thanks! Yeah. Real happy with this today. Uhhhh. Yeah. Been working really hard so...yeah. Coach is giving me workouts that are paying off. Uhhhh. Great day, today (gives awkward little wave to boyfriend)."
Ostrander’s agent, Ray Flynn, thinks Ostrander’s openness is one reason she’s so well liked.
“She’s honest about her successes and failures,” said Flynn. “She’s very transparent about this. It’s so prevalent among women. I think it’s commendable. She’s gained a lot of respect among so many people.”
Around 7,000 runners and walkers will participate Sunday in the Carlsbad 5000, with the men’s masters race at 6:55 a.m. and the women’s elite race at 1:23 p.m.
It will be interesting to see how she rates her performance. She’s still coming off the trauma of dealing with her ED and essentially self-coached. No, I don’t think Ari as a real coach. She spends considerable time on the stationary bike, so her actual mileage is low. I’ll be interested to see how she does in her summer trail running races.
If she can translate the trail/mountain fitness to more competitive times on the roads then she should try the steeple or 10k. Hopefully, she can stay injury free and do well in whatever running event she chooses.
You don’t need certification or fame or age or a paycheck to be a good coach. It’s partly about workouts and a lot about knowing your athlete, keeping them healthy, influencing their goals and self-belief. Can Ari do that? Absolutely. And apparently, he already is.

Exactly, keeping your Athlete healthy is one of the most important aspects of being a Coach, when to push them when to rest them. He seems to be do a good job keeping her improving and building the volume slowly but also using cross training as she rebuilds her fitness.........good job.

Her videos are entertaining. She is funny. She is a good runner, making a comeback. Everybody loves a comeback. A lot of dream about one more shot at top-level running.
A coach has to start somewhere, might as well be now with Ari. At least they are trying something different with the emphasis on uphill training to reduce impact. Ari seems like an intelligent guy, I think he used to have a tech job. I hope it goes well for both of them.
At least she is racing, unlike some unnamed spectator that sometimes appears in her videos.
She needs to get in with a real training group where she will be pushed. If everything worked out the way she was projecting in college, she should won today's race. Is there any way to get her into BTC?
