If it's just to get a World Athletics profile this doesn't require you to hit any world rankings (for example I looked at Singapore profiles and there's a load with none except PBs). Or looking at a GB running Youtuber Cole Gibbens with a 15:18 5K but no world ranking so it seems to be based on running in certain events probably the ones in this list: .In the Watford Open Graded meet 800m on 15/06/2022 the cut-off is roughly at Race 12 of 15 with a large number of people with times >2 minutes having a World Athletics page.
So look up your location and find an Open Meet and you might be able to get in with only a regional competitor time.
Thanks, I think I have something a tad more realistic to work with.
I looked into a recent meet (BU Terrier Classic) and compared the WA results with the ones on TFRRS. For the mile, WA doesn't show any performances slower than 4:29.99 regardless of whether you're running for a school, are part of a club, or are competing unattached. The guys running 4:26ish - 4:29 show up but don't get a profile unless they're really good in a different event. The slowest runner I could find who had a profile and wasn't better in any other event was a guy running 4:25.33. Still difficult, but I think it's slightly more attainable than an 8:45 3k.
