Before anybody in this thread says a word, it might make sense to actually read the proposed AP curriculum. Here you go. I don't think that those who criticize this are being honest. Seems to me that a whole lotta history is being taught here, and it also seems pretty straight up in terms of how it approaches the subject.
What the hell is a "Black experience"? What is Kanye (before he went crazy) or Obama going to share with someone living in O Block? What is a Nigerian businessman living in a wealthy part of PG County going to share in common with someone living in Anacostia?
I wish I could say the comments here surprise me but I can’t. Letsrun and AmeriKKKa as a whole is without a doubt racist!! Not 1930s racist but still racist. What is somewhat baffling to me is how one can read this thread and still claim racism doesn’t exist in this country anymore. It’s there for your eyes to see. I will say that the US as a whole is not as racist as the degenerates on letsrun but bigotry is still alive a well.
Stevie Wonder can see that DeSantis is just pandering to the disgustingly racist core of the RepubliKKKan party. It’s undeniable! Teaching about slavery and EVERYTHING that went along with it, lynchings, segregation, Jim Crow, disparity in policing and the justice system, redlining….and all the other obstacles Blacks in AmeriKKKa had to go through is just teaching FACTS!!!! It’s not something designed to make white children feel bad about being white….it’s is simply history.
Have you ever heard of a couple not getting along because they are too much alike. That is DeSantis and Trump. One in the same.

haha you're wrong. There's a difference between using common sense and being prejudiced. black immigrants commit basically the same amounts of crime as native-born non-blacks, their average IQs are about 100, and their cultures are pro-education.
They also name their kids normal names - looking at NFL rosters, there's a difference between L'Jarius / K'Lavon / De'Shaan / JaMycal and Folorunso / Foyesade

What you're describing is being prejudicial. Calling it "common sense" doesn't change that.
Or an AP Latino/Hispanic course especially since they’re a larger share of the population. We all know why - they don’t vote 95% Democrat and don’t just expect handouts

Being Black in AmeriKKKa is something we share. Most have seen the multi millionaire basketball player get beat by the police for parking in a handicap space…his money didn’t help him. He was just another Black face to the white pigs. Whether I live in Woodmore in PG County or Alabama Ave in Southeast DC…I’m still Black in the eyes of the “Man”.

I'm jumping in to comment. I don't believe that America as a whole is systemically racist, but I'm not denying that racism exists. For example, I don't think that a city like San Francisco or Miami, but that's different than Mississippi.
One problem I have with the "systemic racism" narrative is: why would anyone non-white willingly immigrate to such a racist country, let alone anyone black if America is truly so racist / anti-black?
I live in Florida. DeSantis is pandering to the red neck, mouth breathing, neck beard wearing white, fox news watching voters here in this state. These people are still fighting the civil war in their minds. Some of this race baiting stuff plays on the national level but most will not. Of course it plays well on Lets run because. Well. You know the answer to that.
DeSantis is promoting a family first agenda in FL. Covid freaks and groomers are not welcome. Families who want protect their children and contribute to society are welcome there. Sounds like Florida does not align with your values. States like California, New York, Oregon and Washington would welcome you with open arms. The state of FL will not miss you.
I was born in Florida and am selling a house in Milton Florida. My sister just bought a house in Georgia. We both wish you well. Not !!!
Because we have ACTUAL opinions here and are allowed to speak them.
I don’t agree that everywhere that actual opinions are “allowed” is toxic. But at the very least, people shouldn’t be surprised with the reputation here.
I also know where you're talking about - Woodmore's a very nice majority black area that's basically just a country club (average income $168k, 80% black). No resident there is facing severe discrimination in their daily life.
