Four runners broke 17. The course was in great shape, although the wind was a factor.
Expected a bit more out of Schager.
That wind was no joke!
It was a mixed bag. There were parts of the course with a tail wind. What surprised me was I think I saw the sun. That course was always shrouded in clouds.

In 2017 17:40 was 3rd I believe, today it would have been 20th. maybe better field, but course looked prety fast and firm other than the wind.
Yep. The issue with the course is always the mud and wetness. It is always very important if the girls race is before or after the boys race, which chews up the course. Katelyn ran in 2017 after the boys race so created a handicap. I thought 2018 was not quite as strong as 2017 (although Chimel was really strong also that year) but the time reflected the race placement.

Rigg's brief confusion about where to go near the end, when the lead car popped out to the side, likely cost her the course record.
Or maybe she was so tired she was more susceptible to confusion. The course was blazing fast and the record still stands.

Ok, someone has to say it - Galen's doing a pretty good job on the commentary. Not talking too much, adding some relatable "from the the athlete's perspective" points, etc. Quite good on the whole. The old guy, on the other hand, is insufferable. We get it dude, some of the girls have famous fathers; you can mention that fact once then keep the focus on the girls racing. Sophia and Addy ran tremendously.
