It’s very unfortunate how the previous school treated him. Jamesville-Dewitt cross country is a joke & always been a joke. They (coaches) can’t seem to develop good runners. I’ve heard of horrible stories coming out of J-D. Rumors has it that if you want to get your high school running career ruined Jamesville-Dewitt is the place to go.
Name any good runners that were developed by those coaches at J-D? What have they accomplished?

There are 1400 students at the school and you are telling me they can find 25 boys for a cross country team? I know they have a strong philosophical approach but sounds like he might need to make the program a little more fun… gets some kids out there. It’s cool they win and stuff but would it be better to get a whole lots of kids involved in running?
Also no way is Covid to blame…. I have kids, no one remembers Covid. Life went back to normal a LONG time ago.

also, looks like he made something a little easier.
Aris knew it would be difficult to return to the national meet and lowered the usual training volume in an attempt to keep everyone healthy. He called this season's training mileage "mundane."”

Many people join a team because their older siblings or friends are or were on it. It will be harder because not as many people are on the team now. It’s a vicious cycle

1400 students in grades 9-12?
Tatnall DE has about 600 students in grades PK3-12 all combined….. and has more people out for the high school team than FM in each gender.

And at least 3 of the LV guys that ran at NXN went to a HS from a different state before they moved

I don't keep up with this high school scene as closely as many of you, so I can't weigh in on the latest news.. But 10 runners doesn't seem shocking to me. It sounds like a decent amount. I know the conversation has moved on, but since that's what started the thread, I figured I'd throw this out there. I bet my school had about that many my Senior year....or would have if I had joined. Might have been 8 or 9 as it was. Seems normal from my perspective.

I’ve seen teams with only one person total.
But 10 people is kind of low for a team that used to qualify for nationals every year until a few years ago

I heard that too but the mother I spoke to basically said her kid isn’t interested in all the training involved and it’s “hard”. XC isn’t for everyone. That’s why 65 “sprinters” show up to spring track

Yes it does seem normal … but for a program with a lot of history (e. g. making and winning nationals multiple times in the past), having 10 or less members seems somewhat odd
