Good one. "Welcome back my friends to the show that never ends...."
Rush is the best band in spite of the bassist being the lead singer. Pert, Lee, and the other guy are obviously master musicians, Lee's vocals did grow on me but weren't this great band's strongest talent.

"The other guy" is Alex Lifeson, one of top guitarists of all time. Geddy Lee is by far the best bassists/lead singer/front man of all time. 😎 Just look at the success of the band since he sings every song & plays a mean bass. He also plays keyboards on a few songs.
This kicks some serious butt: 🤟
"Cream" . They were/are sensational.

Good argument but also the Robin Trower band with James Dewar on bass and vocals.

Someone that should be on the list for sure is John Cowan from Newgrass Revival. Back in the day, Newgrass was holding auditions for a bassist, not a lead singer. John auditioned, got the job, and asked the lead singer at the time, Sam Bush, if he could sing along to a song....well, he blew everyone away with is singing chops and from then on was the lead singer. And, if extra credit can be given for hair, he might just to top the list hands down. Callin' Baton Rouge - Newgrass Revival
Cowan's been the Doobie Brothers touring bassist for a while. He sings a verse or two on a few songs....Take Me In Your Arms....being the one which comes to mind immediately.
Another noteworthy band where the bass player is the lead vocalist (and songwriter) is Concrete Blonde. Johnette Napolitano was the bassist.
On a side note: Napolitano was also the primary lead vocalist on the one and only concert tour done by the short-lived band from the mid-1990s, The Heads, founded by the three members of the Talking Heads who aren't David Byrne - Jerry Harrison, Chris Frantz and Tina Weymouth.
The Heads' sole album, "No Talking, Just Head," featured a variety of singers in addition to Napolitano as lead vocalists on its tracks, including Debbie Harry, Richard Hell, Michael Hutchence, Andy Partridge, Gordon Gano and Maria McKee. The Heads were put out of business after David Byrne successfully sued on the grounds that The Heads were trading on, and interfering with, the image and reputation of Talking Heads.

Interesting. I had heard of The Heads, but didn't realize they used a variety of singers, or that Napolitano was the main touring singer. I had just assumed that Tina Weymouth or Jerry Harrison sang since they sang on Tom Tom Club and solo albums, respectively. I need to listen to it. Thanks for the reminder.
