20 years of combat doesn't "harden" a military it weakens it. Especially, when those 20 years were spent fighting a guerilla war versus cavemen.

Throw in the fact that half the US population would be rioting in the streets demanding the war be ended the minute we took a casualty and the odds are even more in Russia's favor.
