Best Indoor Track In Every State

Spire is cool but the sand on the infield is extremely annoying. It's also brick hard but that doesn't bother me, although I can see some people disliking it.

Grinnell College has a really nice indoor facility (especially compared to the other DIII schools in the area!) Wartburg in Waverly IA. is also really nice.

No. Northwest Missouri State in Maryville is the best. No competition.

Kibbie Dome at University of Idaho….

Arizona- NAU SkyDome is the only one in the state. 300m Flat track (7,000 feet though)

Louisiana- LSU 200m flat track

North Carolina- JDL Fast Track in Winston Salem, 200m Flat

Air Force shares a building with the hockey rink which makes it really dry and not as nice as the other facilities. The 6 laps to a mile is also weird.

Is the Kibbie Dome at U of I still there? It was a 290m flat track when I ran my 3000m PR there many many years ago. It was the fastest indoor track in the NW back in the day,

Liberty University in VA is unmatched.

University of Maine has the best track in the state, not nasty USM. Walk in literally anytime and grind. No front desk clerk, no questions

Here in North Carolina everyone raves about the JDL 'Fast' Track in Winston-Salem, but years ago the only true indoor track was at UNC-Chapel Hill and was a 10-lap to the mile banked wooden surface that I think was at least as fast as JDL. I think a couple of Carolina runners ran like high 3:50's in the mile on the old wooden track. I ran my high school indoor PR for 3200m there. Once you got up to speed the banks helped! Only difficulty was encountering lapped runners quicker but it gave you incentive to pass and pick them off. Neat little facility. JDL was sort of built because UNC-Chapel Hill was doing some renovations and didn't want to let high schools use it for meets anymore. At least, that's what I was told by a couple of semi-credible sources at the time. I think AppState University in Boone has a hallway indoor track like the old one at Clemson (when you ran around the hallway of Little John Coliseum ) but it's pretty decent. But they use it mainly for college meets. UNC Asheville had a joke of one in the concourse area above their fitness/weight area but it had 90* turns! (Still laughing as one of my teammates ran like 1:58 for 800m on this one and he was like a 1:52-53 guy otherwise. We had video of him nearly falling at every turn! Ha!) Other than that, JDL, like UNC-Chapel Hill's old wooden facility, is the most utilized now.

Your a hobbyjogger, why on earth would you need or want to run on an indoor track?

The track from 2016 Oregon world indoors is now in Iowa City, IA at the University of Iowa. Iowa State has the 300 meter track. Up to you if you disqualify an oversized track because it's not record eligible, but those are the top two in Iowa. South Dakota would be SDSU's track, but it is also a 300 meter track if they are accepted in this. Minnesota does not have a banked or oversized track, but has several 200 meter flat tracks so take your pick. University of Nebraska has a hydraulic banked 200 meter track. Wisconsin has multiple 200 meter flat tracks, so again take your pick. Illinois would have to be the new banked track in Chicago area. This should help with some midwest tracks.
