I know there are plenty of yankee fan boys on LRC who think this occupation is a great stroke for "liberty" (a word we don't use so much in Canada). Probably 90% of the occupiers are well-meaning average Canadians with an axe to grind making their feelings known by civil disobedience, a time-honoured cornerstone of a functioning democracy. But there is a small and dangerous right wing fringe element, many of whom are armed, and some of whom are plotting insurrection.

I personally think it's no coincidence that this is happening at the same time Russia positions itself to invade Ukraine. It's bizarre to me, but most of y'all right wing nut jobs who sympathize with these truckers also sympathize with Putin. I am not sure I have ever uttered the word Liberty in my life. It is rarely used in Canadian media and literature when referring to Canadiana. But I know it is very commonly used in the US.

Most of the people in BC agree with the truckers , and support their message . You see a small handle of people here , wearing masks and working from home , but for the most part kids are just ignoring any of the covid distancing .
