This is truly an odd place.
Hobbs appears to be in great shape and the sky is the limit. More importantly, if you watch the VNTC youtube videos he appears to be having lots of fun and has a great relationship with training partners and coach.

A 39 second 300 is nothing without context, like top middle distance women could hit 39-40 if they had enough recovery, but hitting 39s off of 2min recovery is hard for even world class dudes.

The dude ran 3:34 last year in high school for 1500, and he is still at an age of making rapid gains. He couldn't handle rounds at the trials, but in a one off race last year he wouldn't be too far off from Nuguse. Now that gap has probably shrunk. Would you be shocked if Nuguse ran 3:51? I wouldn't, so I wouldn't be shocked if Hobbs ran 3:51. Though I think a 3:54 is more likely. He will run a time that would make him an NCAA title contender if he would've gone to the NCAA, and we've got a couple 3:54's there already.
