Also, fwiw, I am ok if Cincy goes undefeated and sneaks in. However, I do not think they should be ranked ahead of an undefeated OU.
Not ranked ahead of Oklahoma? Huh? Have you seen Oklahoma's non- conference schedule? They barely beat Tulane (40-35), a non-impressive win against Nebraska (23-16) & they ran up the score against hapless & JC Western Carolina (76-0). Lol. They didn't play anyone in non-conference.
OTOH, Cinncinati beat #9 ND, at the time, on the road. Certainly, you must see it this way unless you think that was a colossal win Oklahoma had over W. Carolina? Lol.
Bro, yes, their non conference schedule was a laugher (though they did beat a Big Ten team and former huge rival - biggest rival in college football in the 70s) on the road, a team that is always up for them. But the rest of their schedule is a power conference. The power conferences grind each other down.
Cincy would be a two-loss team in any real conference. I don’t put too much stock in the ND win. ND is always, always overrated. Cincy’s had a couple nailbiters against patsies.
Again though, what works for them is that a couple teams from the power conferences in front of them will likely drop off and Cincy has the easiest schedule of anyone to finish out (But SMU will have something to say about that). So, it is in their control.
