Brian laundrie looks to have been dead all along in the swamp

That does make any sense --Gabby died in Wyoming a couple of thousand miles away. Did he hide in the trunk all that time and pounce on Brian when he opened it up?

Either you are another poster said it could be difficult to obtain a sample of his DNA for comparison and that's what I was responding to. Bodies were identified before DNA analysis was available and can be done the same way now.

In spite of the media attention, Laundrie was just a guy and not Jimmy Hoffa or Snowden. If he had somehow stuck off to another country, the story would have dropped off of the radar in a few weeks.

The good news for his parents is that the media will no longer be parked on front of their house

The belongings were "discovered" by the parents who were searching alone. Rather than leave the items were they were found they picked them up and carried them over to the FBI people who were searching in other areas.

That makes no sense and the FBI doesn’t make deals like that. That’s like giving away the entire farm because you can’t figure out how to do pest control. Not being able to find him looks nowhere near as bad as not being able to book him (or anyone because there really isn’t anyone else) for the crime despite finding him.

Deals are most often made with accomplices to get the prime suspect, so in this case, one could perhaps wonder if the FBI made a deal with the parents to not charge them with anything if they helped find him.

The only thing that makes sense to me is the parents knew where he was planning on hiding, headed there to meet him alive and found him dead.

Also, it's normal to refer to adults as children in the context of describing them as someone's offspring.

Just to address the issue of his appearing all of a sudden. The water levels in Florida swamps were very high only last month. They were covering numerous roads and bike paths in the swamps, in some places by 6-8 feet, making them impassable, and now that water is gone. So, it is conceivable that he might have gone into the park when the water levels were high in early September, killed himself or been killed by an animal while he slept, been covered up by water and then the trails opened up in the dry season and he and his stuff appeared. But I don't know what happened and will wait for a more complete picture to open up.
