JAKOB INGREBRIGTSEN SICK ONE MONTH BEFORE OLYMPICS

Perhaps Jakob is not actually sick after all. Maybe he does not want to lose to Cheruiyot before he takes gold in the olympics. With the 3 kenyan guys taking his place, if he can beat them, then he will assert his dominance over Cheruiyot indirectly.. but if he were to lose to Cheruiyot in diamond league then others may be quick to call him lucky or fortunate that Cheruiyot did not make it to Tokyo. Could be a mental thing and a bit of a financial risk as well.

You´ve got to understand this is partly a cultural thing. In the nordic/Scandinavian countries you are never supposed to train/run with a sore throat. Not even a little.

There are a lot of stories about local club runners that have died on the run because och myocarditis. Almost in every club the is some such stories lingering from the 60s, 70s or whatever.

There is one episode from a few years back inte Team Ingebrigtsen TV-show when Jakob runs the European cross and Gjert is worrying himself nuts about letting Jakob run with some symtoms of a cold. Gjert even calls a doctor just before the race.

A sore throat with fever that Jakob now seem to suffer from is absolutely no no.

With Stewie leading the field to 1320 with a 57 3rd quarter and running 3:48 with a 58 or high 57 last lap, that race represented a great shot for Jakob to go 3:45-46 with a 55-56 close.

times mean nothing if you dont run them when it counts. ..especially to a casual fan. a casual fan cant even comprehend how fast a PR is. in the age of social media PRs literally mean less than ever before. look at a training group like TME. they are basically club runners, but they are more popular than prob 90% of better pros. sponsors also dont care about times. they care about influence and results. a fast time trial gives you neither and unless you can replicate on a big stage is really doesnt mean much.

I would say Cacho has run faster AND had more success than Centro. As of this moment.

Actually exercising a lot in cold weather during childhood does increase the risk of developing asthma. Maybe you should try sticking to doping busts in Norway to create suspicion of successful Norwegian athletes? But that would be difficult as there are so few busts. Unlike Kenya. No need to bring up the Kenyan susceptibility to malaria to cast doubt on Kenyan runners. You just need to point to 150+ Kenyan doping busts.

1) Kiprop is not the fastest ever.

2) Asbel does have an Olympic gold.

3) He also has a doping bust.

Tired of hearing that Centro was lucky. He read the race correctly and had the balls to take the lead. He had some monster predators on his ass and held them off for 400m. Not many guys EVER who could have done that after leading for so long.

Some of you cannot ever give credit where it's due. The goal of a race, especially at the Olympics is to win. He did that beautifully.

I answered Von Trips "are infamous for their "asthma" which implied a misuse of asthma medication. Sure, there are a lot of runners who have asthma, but used as PED Martin J. Sundby. And BTW thank you for the articles.
