I've got to get a few things off of my chest first:
-Webb is dedicatig his life to running. You are not.
-Webb will be great if he keeps workig hard. He's 19/20.
-He ran 3:53. That shows f***ing promise.
-Most of you don't know a thing about coaching, Do not understand periodization, stages, energy systems.
-Most of you can't break 15:00 in the 5K. Shut the Fuck Up.
-Do you except him to be in peak shape at every race?
Webb's 14:06 was most likely part of his base training due to his REAL track season starting in June. The splits that were reported on here appeared to me to have been gearing him towards even "moderate" splits in the first 2/3rds, with an emphasis on closing hard in the last mile. (Yeah, it's not rocket science.)
It's clear, he was getting his early season jitters out running with a conservative field to gain confidence. If he had a goal of running 13:40's don't you think that's what he would have set himself up to do. It was March and I bet his miles are still high. He will run faster in the 1500/mile than he ever has this summer.
It seems to me that the dumbest people always seem to make the loudest noise on this board.
