Some organizations have hiring barriers depending on how the hiring process occurred. It could cost the company a lot of money if they didn't wait 480 work hours before officially hiring.
You are talking about a program that had been one of worst in country in a conference that had barely ever qualified a team to nationals outside that school. No,Toledo is no shining school on Jill. That's what made what HAdsell did so unbelievable. This chick has no business coaching a program like that. She has no experience. If she gets job it will only be becAuse she has a vagina. The Toledo women would never be same because they would never buy into her. This is exactly what's wrong with affirmative action. What makes this chick even remotely qualified? Seriously? WhAt makes her a good candidate at all?

Bucky was a multiple time Coach of Year. He had numerous All-Americans. The Murphy Brown State woman's claim to fame is a couple all conference girls in a terrible league. I agree. A joke hire if it happens.
I have no dog in this fight but I just looked at the bios of the four finalists and I think most people on the thread are correct about the female. Without being as harsh as some of them, she doesn't seem to fit in any way. Each of the men has coached all americans and conference champions. The lady hasn't done either and half of her bio looks as though it really belongs to the other finalist from Greensboro. She is a distance coach so I assume she isn't directly responsible for the accomplishments of their sprinters and hurdlers. It doesn't seem to make sense that both the Greensboro guy and the Murray girl are finalists. Why bring somebody who has half of their resume negated by another finalist? The only answer to this question can be that its to have a female finalist.
The Murray State candidate used to work for the Greensboro candidate... Now fighting for the same job.
All of you must remember, money plays a big part.
Doubtful lowly Toledo has big money to pay top candidate with resume (Clemson).
A lot of coaches have families, as well.
So the best candidate may not get the offer they are hoping for, thus a lesser candidate is willing to take lesser offer.

Toledo is a raise for all of these coaches. This is likely a $65,000 to $75,000 job.
Yeah we got that...awhile ago. Welcome to the party (said with a friendly smile). Also, to summarize it's a good job for someone who wants to live in a dying part of the upper midwest and follow in nearly impossible shoes to fill competitively speaking. The interviews and references probably mean everything (vs. accomplishments) as the primary focus will be on hiring someone who speaks and acts more professionally. The SCHOOL probably doesn't realize that what women's cross country accomplished in the 2000's and again in the last few years probably won't be accomplished by any sport ever again. Ten or 20 years from now people will look back and say, "Remember when Toledo was a national player!". Laugh, nod, and move on. They aren't the first and won't be the last to be a "flash in the pan" that didn't sustain itself over the life of one coach.
Changing subjects...what IN THE WORLD is taking Clemson so long? Good grief! Nations have been attacked, protected, and re-settled with a new social order in less time.

They need to hire Chris Johnson away from Arkansas. A great young coach.

I don't know if Hadsell is getting back into coaching real soon. He's apparently trying to make it in the acting world.
Anybody who went through what Hadsell went through deserves a second chance. I'd say it would be worth the risk.

Am I the only one who saw Ryan Vanhoy's job posted yesterday? Either he found a better gig after 1 year or they're hiring another distance assistant..... Anyone have some insight that isn't busy complaining about the possible Toledo hires?
I agree, there needs to be a new coach but no one really fits the bill for distance
