Some good results from Carleton And as expected, Power overseeded. It looks like even the young Carls have learned if they sit back, the Oles will be perfect pace setters for them. They have some really talented young runners.
Gabe and Gustie Brauer used the 3K for a workout, with Brauer running an 8:55 debut. And Travis Brown has entered the chat.
What do we think it will be take the make the fast heat of the 3K this year. Based on yesterday, it looks like we'll see a lot of random people under 9:00. 21 men ran sub 8:50 last year.

Where are all these gusties spawning in from. The second heat of every race was one ole freshmen, one washed up carl and 50 bazillion gusties.

First-year Dashiell Coyier won his first collegiate event with narrow victory in the mile run, clocking a time of 4:26.30 and holding off a senior from St. Olaf by 0.10 second. Coyier ran a smart race and took over the lead in the final two laps. Teammate and classmate Jacob Hopkins placed fourth in the same event with a time of 4:30.16.
The first weekend of the year is past, and we saw some good early performances.
Big teams Bethel and St John's have yet to race (for the most part).
Kubicek looks to be in good form, nearly even splitting the fastest 600 of the weekend, and then doubling a 300 shortly after.
The Ole mid distance crew looks set to perform well, Gabe can't hang. No spectacular times, but its early. If Stencel runs the 3000 and St. Peter isn't fully back from injury this could be the Oles' event, but we said that last year too.
The mile went as expected, Carls can't do any work but will accept free wins from the Oles.
The 3000 was about the same story, Oles go out too hard and Carls beat them. Not much better than Mac tactics.
It should be noted that only one of the Ole's top 10 cross country runners actually raced and that was Deaver who ran his first collegiate mile. We can agree the Carls younguns and Gabe looked good and for some reason the Oles are way better at cross country (I suspect its because they have all summer without structured coaching) but I wouldn't hand out any gold medals yet.
How do people plan to warm up for races this weekend with the dangerous temps? Evidently Power told the Oles he’s going to bring jump ropes since he used to see a Bethel sprinter so that, but I’m looking for better advice. Does the man have any ideas of his own?
I've enjoyed the alumni coaching series on D3 Glory Days. It's a shame they didn't interview the Ole women's coach. She's the meet director for all cross country and still has national success without any of the drama of the men's coach. There are days I wish I chose to go to the other side of the river.
I assume that's why the Ole women aren't going. Looks like they're only bringing their 800m runner.

I believe this thread would provide the evidence needed to suggest that athletes should have absolutely no say in coaches award. The constant stream of rumors, uninformed opinions and pure nonsense is almost beyond belief.
Add in the hypocritial nature of arguing that the athletes should vote for the coach of the year, and then suggest that coaches don't matter, might actually be the perfect example of the absurdity of all of this.
Hilarious that Power seeded 17 guys ahead of the Carl in this K after he crushed them in the mile last week.

The more freakishly pathetic the posters get on this site the more I’m starting to believe it’s a smear campaign by jealous losers from other schools. They must view him as so far superior they can’t reasonably compete. If I was an Olaf alum I’d be making a donation.
In related news, over my 4 year collegiate athletic career, our coach never dictated where our normal easy runs took place. During indoor most workouts were done on an indoor track because it’s indoor track season. But he’d say 8-10 miles at easy aerobic pace and we’d choose inside or out.
Maybe Power is such an inspirational leader that his athletes look to him to guide even their smallest decisions. I wonder if they seek his advice on running outfits. It is rare that you come across such influential leaders! Athletes have taken a second or perhaps even third place ranking on these threads behind Power’s coaching acumen and his overall aura!
I petition that we rename all MIAC threads the Glorious Coach Power Miac tribute threads… (2025 xc, 2026 track etc) because honestly talking about power constantly really is the primary purpose right?
In my experience with both heat and cold, the NCAA, conferences, and even the school’s athletic trainer all enforce the decision when to run in inclement weather. It’s liability issue waiting to happen and it may not have been a decision by the coaching staff. I remember an XC practice where we ran at 5:00 due to the heat.
And if I had the 300m jogging track option rather than -18 temps, I think I’d choose that for at least part of my run.

Looks like a good 3K and 800 at Olaf. Almost 50 guys entered in the 5K and I don’t think a single one can break 15:00. Wonder why none of the fast Oles are racing?
I heard Power couldn't get a pacer for Turlington. Seems he's burned bridges with all the elite runners and his few alumni that he's used in the past too. Probably why so many on here think it's time for a regime change.
