Semihaze will never admit to being wrong. She clearly thought that if a stud gets healthy unexpectedly, they can run. But they can't if not entered in the top 14.
not anyone they want, anyone that they include in the up to 14 they enter. You are missing the nuance that they have to decide who they want to be able to run at Nationals, ahead of Regionals. 14 max out of which they can run 7.
so did their line up even max out? is there even such top team that has trouble with that?
any team always has a main 3-4 runners in their line up which leaves them 3-4 runners to fill in 14-4 is 10... you think 10 isnt the whole remaining squad thats been running in the races in the preseason?
It doesn't matter what I think......you need to learn to write with more precision

which team even has a problem of maxing out at 14 as possible runners at nationals !???common sense

Yes they can run
it was what happened to katelyn in her first year, her first cross country race was the nationals, she never ran any preseason races and never ran ACCs too

You are seriously going to use the COVID year with no regionals as an example? Grow a brain, and then try to use it.

regionals is one race, what difference does it make?

um....the rules...the rules never require that runners run prior races....If Starliper had not run the one race she could still be entered and then run at Nationals. But she has to be entered. In the "2020" year there were no Regionals so Entries were not required before the Regionals. I believe there were just 8 entered for Nationals and out of those, 7 ran.
getting back closer to the subject....I wonder how hard Valby will run at Regionals, when she most likely goes up against Chelangat again?
Prediction: She will go off again but the Alabama women won't follow her this time, and will save everything for nats. Because of this, the winning margin will be larger.

I wouldn't be surprised....Chelanagat doesn't probably have to run, certainly does not have to run hard. Valby does have to run (and place high) or she won't make it to Stillwater (no Team)

teams barely even put up a solid 7 yet you're so worked up on the list of 14 ?????
You are the only one worked up because you misrepresented the rule. Nearly nobody knew that only 14 were allowed in the entries. The time that the rule would really come into play is when somebody has a miraculous recovery from injury and the coach thought there was no chance of recovery. Another time would be if a coach lists 11 runners thinking that provides plenty of alternates and then the top 7 get sick.
Sorry folks...didn't mean to start a verbal spat...easy to see that everyone is a little on edge with all the garbage posts recently.
Again, I apologize for my ignorance in terms of qualifying for Nat's. I will go look this up this evening....It was unclear to me before whether a runner had to compete in a Conference or Regional race in order to run with their team at Nats....so it is now clear that they do not. As long as the team qualifies, any runner can participate for the team as long as they are registered for the meet.
It's interesting for Valby though, I assumed she would have qualified for Nats based on winning her Conference. I didn't realize she would have to run Regionals as well, and place well still to qualify for Nats. Obviously this should not be an issue for her, but there's always the possibility of a stumble / sickness/ etc etc that could come up.
In terms of the Regional race, I'm not sure what type of race she will run...I would think she will try to pace herself a bit more...hang with the leaders until the last k and then take off.
No reason to apologize - the problem is this board is full of vastly different fans. Those that either ran collegiately, have a kid who does, is a coach or some combination of those three. Then the others who are huge fans but have no practical real life experience in college running. So the knowledge of the rules and intricacies are very different. Semi you are a huge fan but you have shown some ignorance when it comes to actual rules etc it when you claim in another thread that GPS watches work the same as chips on a runners shoe. It shows you have probably never competed, coached or been involved in the running world yourself.I knew this claim was wrong just by running my local Turkey trot.. No shade just a fact. I think we all have to take what people say with the grain of salt. They claim a fact but… is it true or just something they’ve come up with … look up the rules with a simple google search… stalking peoples Instagram, snap chat and making you tube videos makes you a fam yes - but not an expert
