If Starliper can't go I would sit Rauber at regionals and plan on running her. Regionals is flat and fast, not her strength. Quarzo and Mareno would seem to have earned a spot.
trust me, marlee will run
if she does not post on her blog then shes totally running nationals!
So you think NC St (or Marlee) would tell everyone in advance that Starliper is not going to run? Interesting, that is not how these things usually play out. We will see who they declare ahead of Regionals.
basically katie ran the race syd should have ran in panorama farms .. if syd didnt have an off day and finished behind sam, nc state could have scored 25 and not 34
This is the issue. We really have not seen a strong 6k performance from Seymour this season, that lives up to her potential. She was good at Piane, but that was early season and 5k. I hope they can figure it out.

And I will just add, we haven't seen Starliper run a 6k at all....

Because savannah posted, if marlee was not going to run too, she would have done the same thing but she didnt, my gut tells me she will run at regionals
i just realized something, marlee still has to earn her spot coz looks like rauber might be used at nationals too, specially if she runs better than syd this regional
marlee will run at regionals, if not then her time trial should be faster than seymour, howlett, mareno, rauber, quarzo for her to earn a spot
if sydney seymour will not do well at regionals, i dont think they will even use her .... just my wild assumption ,... but good thing is sydney now hill training
i though i knew nc state's 3-5 ... but now i dont,,,
it all goes down to regional performance and last time trial

Sorry for my ignorance, but what does this mean? If the team qualifies, can they not use any runner? or does each runner need to have run a major race before Nats?

They can use whomever they want at nats. I think semi is saying those results will factor in who they choose

They have to enter runners ahead of regional meet. Out of those entrees they declare runners for regionals, and then declare runners for Nationals (later).
thanks...so Starliper doesn't have to run Regionals in order to qualify to run Nats.
So she has 2 1/2 weeks still to get ready if required. It would be great to see her at Regionals just for the experience, before going to Nats. Here's hoping.

correct, neither Steelman nor Clairemonte ran Regionals last year.

no, a team can line up anyone even if the runner didnt run at regionals, a team fly out main their seven runners plus reserves/alternate runners in case any of the top 7 is unable to run
it all goes down to regional performance and last time trial
Do they do a time trial in practice to decide?
they have time trials but its not entire what decides who gets to be top7 ... last year, the regionals decided their top 7 but then it there was nothing to decide last year because the top girls were already set .. chmiel tuohy steelman hays bush, it was easy
Wrong as usual. They can enter up to 14. The 7 at nationals must me from those 14 names.
Correct, semi when all else fails (or before stating rules) consult the rules.
from last year
Declarations/Entry Forms: Institutions are required to declare during packet pickup on Friday between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. at Apalachee Regional Park (7550 Apalachee Pkwy, Tallahassee, FL 32311). The runners declared for the national championships may be different from those that competed at the regional meet, but all must have appeared on the original entry form submitted prior to the regional championships. If an institution declares more than seven student-athletes during packet pickup (i.e. takes an eighth or ninth set of chips and bibs), those additional chips and bibs must be returned to meet management at the clerking tent no later than 20 minutes prior to the start of the race. Please note that institutions qualifying as a team will receive no more than 14 total student-athlete credentials. Teams are encouraged to declare down as far as possible during packet pickup. For additional information regarding entry forms and declarations please see the NCAA Division I Cross Country Pre-Championship Manual.

which means the team can line up anyone they want, what makes you think i meant bring the whole team??? wheres the common sense?
i dont think a team has 14 runners that can be top 5 .. so why the fuss?
nc state brought 10 at regionals without marlee, they lost 5 seniors and added only 1
not anyone they want, anyone that they include in the up to 14 they enter. You are missing the nuance that they have to decide who they want to be able to run at Nationals, ahead of Regionals. 14 max out of which they can run 7.

so did their line up even max out? is there even such top team that has trouble with that?
any team always has a main 3-4 runners in their line up which leaves them 3-4 runners to fill in 14-4 is 10... you think 10 isnt the whole remaining squad thats been running in the races in the preseason?
