I thought they looked good

At first it seemed possible that the Cortland guys just had a bad sense of style, but when you have someone wearing a blue and yellow striped polo shirt with a neon orange tie that was too small it became clear they were purposely dressing like schmucks.

If you'd thrown in some clown shoes and maybe put one of them on stilts, you'd have a full fledged circus. If they were trying to be funny no one got it.

What happened to Conn? If she would have done what she should have (being up with the lead genny girl) brockport could have done better overall. Congrats to p-burgh impressive

Seems like they're trying to enlarge the already giant target on their backs. I'm sure there are more than a few ticked off Geneseo athletes who felt disrespected by the attempted mockery of the event that their school worked very hard to put on.

They are a bunch of GYM teachers all they have is polo shirts. I bet they wish that the target on their back was a little lower so everyone knew to slip it right in their B-Holes. I know that is how I like it.

If they were true gym teachers they would have worn polos with windpants.

The anti cortland people are so stupid... Give credit where credit is due.they let us into their personalities today. They enjoy life and it shows. Don't be so uptight...it was a conference awards ceremony in a gym. Just relax, they had fun... You should do the same.

When a team puts nine runners in front of all other teams second; it's understadable that they would prefer to talk about the awards ceremony.

I will give them credit for their ability to run well. The race today was an amazing display of their strength as a team.

Regardless of their ability, their display at the awards ceremony was classless. It does not matter how well you perform, how much you enjoy life, or if the awards ceremony is held in a gym or not, it is my opinion, and obviously the opinion of several others that athletes should conduct themselves in a manner that best articulates the values of the organization they represent.

Athletes give a college an image. The way they perform is important but so is way they act and dress. Every time a college team travels off school grounds, they are representing where they came from. They are marketing the college, it's values, and what the students there are like.

In this case, they are not only representing Cortland State, but also the SUNY Conference. When they win by a landslide, they are sending a message that they are the best SUNY has to offer. Moreover, as the top ranked team in Division III, they are seen as the best that Division III has to offer.

After the display they made, I would be embarrassed to be affiliated with Cortland. I am already embarrassed, as a member of SUNYAC cross country. And I am even more embarrassed to be in Division III, which is already looked down upon by the rest of the NCAA.

Many teams/schools have dress policies when it comes to traveling to meets. There is a reason those policies are in place. No AD, college President, coach or student athlete wants the image of 14 classless fools damaging the reputation or their school or conference. Important if they lose, but even more important if they win, most strive to make a good impression at the awards ceremony, at the hotel they stay at, and even the Taco Bell they eat at on the way home.

believe it or not I have to agree with wss on this one...seems like people are a little to fashion sensitive...it was an awards ceremony...who gives a crap...on to regionals

NYU looked really good today too...(does anyone know if everyone ran full stregnth at that meet)...I know last time NYU spanked CMU people were saying CMU wasn't full strength

idk man seems pretty weak...its not like they flipped someone off as the crossed the finish line or anyone punched a competitor in the face out on the XC course

True, I suppose. I think it was 2004. Thats from Brockport though. Ryan Kolb/Brockport=not exactly the face of SUNYAC, Atlantic Region, or DIII XC.

I know people like to have fun, but even if you are the best, you want people to still respect you. I just know when Geneseo swept, they were classy and respected. I think that is the case always with Geneseo.

Bulllllllllshit. If you were on Cortland's team, you would have done the same thing and you know it. They were celebrating a win, not demeaning anyone else or themselves (or their school, or the conference...). Get off your high horse before you get thrown off.

As an alumnus of Geneseo I wish your statement was true, but I have witnessed poor and embarassing behavior by SunyG runners.
