Surely it's not that it's international news – covered by Barstool and some of the most well-known Indian, Canadian, and Vietnamese papers – and that I oppose doping. Obviously that can't be it! Typically, when I see 2 (or more possibilities), I never assume it's the most likely one. I'll just make up a convoluted story instead.

It truly is a shame that the Rowan squad does not seem to understand that some people have some moral principles and an actual desire to see justice prevail and that there are actions they will oppose no matter who does them. They want to think that Seth is all special and that he is personally being persecuted. This is laughable of course. Nobody is out to get Seth because he is Seth. This is about his actions. Any runner in the NCAA could have done this and the reaction from everybody else would have been the exact same. Seth took a banned substance and now he deserves to face the penalty. He was well aware of this penalty when he took his substances. If he couldn't do the time, he shouldn't have done the crime.

It is extremely telling that no one associated with Seth is able to conceive a world where there is any energy or effort towards the right and ethically sound thing without having something personal to gain from it.

Ferpa just shouldnt apply to athletics. It’s ridiculous that an athlete can just stay quiet and no one is allowed to tell the truth. Seth should not be allowed to compete until, at the very least, he publicly discloses why he was suspended from Iowa State (and his account is verified by the ISU coaching staff). The right to privacy in this case is totally out of order

Your opinion is illogical. A kid punches a teammate. A kid smokes pot. A kid fails a class. This is his life, not the public's life.

A kid faces credible allegations of integrity violations it’s no longer just his life. Sorry but that’s how it has to be to preserve the sport. In this situation an athlete’s individual privacy is at odds with the very essence of fair competition — “privacy” has to lose. At the end of the day, competing in the NCAA is a privilege, not a right. When you accept that privilege, you also accept certain limits on your rights as long as you choose to continue to compete in that sport (e.g. submitting to random drug testing). Clev can have his privacy, but he should not be allowed to continue competing without full public disclosure. Or he can keep racing, but provide meaningful evidence to refute the doping allegations, even if it comes at the cost of his privacy. What he should not be allowed to do is remain totally silent, refuse to sign any sort of FERPA release, and continue racing. This is an existential issue for the values fair play and integrity that are essential to the character of the NCAA, particularly at the D3 level and particularly in distance running. Everyone who has raced, currently races, or will race in the NCAA needs to see this for what it is: not merely some case about a disgraced ex DI guy coming to D3, but a question about the fundamental nature of NCAA athletics. Seth’s privacy is a regrettable but necessary sacrifice which must be made to protect the integrity of the sport.

At the end of the day Seth had a break out race, was suspended from Iowa State (a top distance running school), left before any resolution, transferred under a cloud of suspicion to…Rowan (not exactly a D3 distance powerhouse or an academic giant).
