We don't need a million thread on this topic. We like one thread per topic. We merged several others into this thread including one called "Alex Pretti was a deranged lunatic." and one called "New York Times reports that Pretti attacked ICE cars 11 days before his death" and one called "LeBron James: Why hasn't he commented on the Alex Pretti killing?"
I agree that the politicians have done nothing but add fuel to the fire. Both sides a guilty of this. I am not saying ICE needs to leave but a temporary suspension or operations coupled with protesters going home (install a temporary curfew if necessary) is needed so that cooler heads can prevail. Regardless of ICE's job to rid the country of criminal illegals, both sides have to give some or this situation will explode further
There aren't "both sides". You have a fascist regime and then the American people. You have no idea how the world sees you.
There are very fine people on both sides.
If you can't acknowledge this, you might be a fascist.
I know deep down you are a reasonable person...so I ask you how does this situation ultimately end? How is it resolved? To me it seems as if it comes down to one choice/decision, and that is whether we accept illegal immigrants with criminal records living in our country or not. If we choose the latter, going out and arresting these people is the only way to do it. This inevitably comes with the risk of the arrest not going smoothly i.e. the subject runs, the subject resists, LEOs getting injured, the subject getting injured, or even the wrong subject is apprehended. I suspect that even if the officer that shot Renee Good, and the officers involved in this recent incident were prosecuted to fullest extent of the law, it still wouldn't be good enough for the left. Enforcing the law always has inherent risks and dangers, but they are worth enduring in order to have a functioning lawful society. Tell me I'm wrong in assuming leftists have made the choice that having illegals in this country with criminal records is acceptable.

It’s simple. Use the justice system to find and deport people. Don’t go door to door in terror campaigns. Obama did this and deported more dangerous people than Trump.
Trump chose to go with this public and aggressive style of enforcement because he thought it would make epic memes. Now a majority of of America wants to abolish ice and Trump is 15 points under on his most popular policy of immigration.
One of the great political errors of this century.

Wrong. MAGA
One wonders why this style of response and ignorance is fracturing the Trump coalition in real time, lol.
15 points under… on immigration!
At least ice executing citizens is distracting from the economy and the Epstein files

Unrest The 2020s in Minneapolis are defined by the murder of George Floyd in May 2020, which ignited global protests against police brutality and systemic racism. The Catalyst: The May 2020 killing triggered massive protests, riots, and the burning of the Third Police Precinct, representing a defining moment for racial justice in the decade. Impact: The city became the epicenter of a national conversation on police reform and racial equity, leading to long-term legal, social, and structural changes. Context: These events took place against the backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic and wider US democratic backsliding.
1970s Belfast: The Height of "The Troubles" The 1970s was the most violent period of the 30-year conflict in Northern Ireland known as "The Troubles," with Belfast as the primary focal point. Conflict: This period included intense sectarian violence, bombings, and armed engagements between loyalist/republican paramilitaries and British security forces. Key Events: Key moments in Belfast included the Battle of St Matthew's and the Falls Curfew in 1970, and the aftermath of Bloody Sunday in 1972. Urban Landscape: The city was characterized by "peace lines" (segregation walls), checkpoints, and a high security presence, deeply impacting daily life.
1980s Beirut: Civil War and Disintegration During the 1980s, Beirut was a deeply divided city, acting as the,,center of a chaotic Lebanese Civil War that started in 1975 and continued to escalate. Conflict: The city was split by the "Green Line," separating combatants and experiencing heavy shelling, car bombings, and sniper fire. Foreign Intervention: The decade was marked by the 1982 Israeli invasion of Lebanon and the subsequent presence of multinational forces, turning Beirut into a battleground for regional and international power struggles. Disintegration: Life was characterized by the collapse of state infrastructure, constant fear, and the forced relocation of populations along sectarian lines.
Summary of Comparison: All three examples represent cities in crisis, where the "normal" functioning of society was replaced by, respectively, intense social justice protest (Minneapolis), prolonged sectarian warfare (Belfast), and civil war/foreign intervention (Beirut).
Oh, we haven’t even gotten started yet; this is going to get much, much worse.

There will be ever increasingly obvious murders by ICE which MAGA will defend, because once they admit one murder, the credibility of their defense of the previous murders will be lessened.
And they can't do that psychologically to themselves.
I'd go further. I think the M@GA base will abandon the administration the second it shows a shred of human decent towards ANY of those it has identified as its natural enemies. You can see this in the ever-increasing dishonesty, shrillness, and stupidity of the base's defenses of the indefensible. Even as the crimes of the Trump administration proceed well past ideology and into the territory of gross violations of common human decency-- of simple right versus wrong-- they expect no turning.
Libs have had it wrong for a long time in thinking that what you need to do to discourage the base from supporting M@GA is to expose more and more of Trump's depravity, criminality, and overall unfitness for public office an any kind.
This "if they only knew" approach to Trump has only ever made the base more protective of him and of their own psyches. The second the base gave Trump a pass on the "pvssy" tape, shaking them loose from him was NEVER going to be a matter of exposing the "real" Donald Trump. Accepting how ugly Trump really is meant, for the base, that supporting Trump was going to be about a full commitment to the M@GA project, which has been from the beginning: Winning the culture was using state power.
The second the Trump administration appears to back down on even the smallest fight in crusade to crush the enemy-- indeed, the first time it does not go on offence instantaneously after committing an obvious outrage, like the murder of a citizen exercising their rights-- the base will begin to doubt, and the movement will begin to unravel. The goals of M@GA are SO odious that if HAD to be all or nothing for the base. There can me no such thing as "moderate", thoughtful, M@GA. The base could never quite believe Trump managed to get elected in the first place in polyglot American. As a result, there can be NO letting up for them.

You are majorly and mistakingly overdramatizing what is occuring. Find and deport people. That is what is happening.
The agents didn't ask for his intent. They killed him before they knew he had a gun, which he was entitled to carry, and while he was filming them. Murder.

They’re failing to do both. They’re trying to find people who are already in jail. They’re detaining citizens.
Obama showed you can enforce the border without going door to door and harassing citizens. There’s many ways to do this that don’t end in the execution of Americans.
And the public agrees with me. Some of the sharpest polling changes in history over the last 2 weeks. A generational mandate squandered.
