MINNEAPOLIS — Federal agents shot a person in Minneapolis, Gov. Tim Walz said Saturday.
City officials in Minneapolis also said they are aware of reports of a possible shooting involving a federal law enforcement agent.
The incident happened in the area of West 26th Street and Nicollet Avenue. It was captured on a video posted to Facebook and verified by NBC News.
“We are working to confirm additional details. We ask the public to remain calm and avoid the immediate area,” the city said in aFacebook post.
Two intersections in South Minneapolis have been blocked from traffic. Dozens of masked federal immigration officers are on the scene, and protesters have started to gather.
Officers have let off some tear gas and pepper bombs.
A DHS spokesperson said, “Suspect had a firearm with 2 magazines situation evolving. Will get you more information ASAP.”
