Kersee deserves every bit of criticism but 2:03 is so slow that I’m angrier at Mu, honestly.
It’s not about Kersee, any useless high school could write up some generic program and have her running 1:59x as long as she does bare minimum workouts. Running this slow means that she’s not mentally in it, and barely putting any work in.
That was one of the best single day meets ever-definitely on the distance side. Two WRs, a number of top-25 all time marks with even some in the sprints too
Yet, I found the Kenya and Ethiopia packed and dominated races boring. If it wasn’t for the Men’s Mile it might have been an afternoon wasted. Makes me miss GST.
Looking at things objectively, Hiltz just dipped under 3:56 with no one in front or behind them for a full second. Last year Hiltz ran 3:55.33 while being pushed all the way to the line by ESP and McKay. Do we think Shelby’s 3:54.99 AR goes down this season? I’m willing to bet it does.
blame kersee all you want, but it's Mu's fault for allowing herself to be a science experiment for him.
If I was Mu, as soon as Kersee told me "I know you just set the NCAA record in the 400 but I'm not going to allow you to run the 400" I would have left him immediately.
Impressive indeed. She was a middling runner for many years and all of a sudden she is running toe-to-toe with the greatest 1500 runner ever. She was an effing journey woman runner.

Houlihan ran every race she could get into when her suspension was lifted hoping to make enough noise she'd get a contract. didn't work and now she's cooked, also demoralized no pro team/sponsor called her.

Michael Johnson wishes he could put on a meet this good
I'm trying to work out if the DL has stepped up this year, or if it just looks so much better because we can compare it to GST. But ever since the DL left China, it's been amazing meet after amazing meet

Once again, Peacock/NBC TAKES A DUMP on American hammer throwers. Rudy Winkler sets a new American record in DEFEATING the reigning Olympic & World Champion. Do we see even that throw? NO.
I want to personally beat the ever living crap out of them.
Seriously, how many people in the world compete in the hammer? Does anyone in North America even look at a hammer until college?
I am so psyched. Starts in a few minutes. That Men's International mile field is loaded. Could their winning time be within 2 seconds of Bowerman winner? Weather looks good. mid to upper 70s, a little wind, no humidity.
Jakob should move up to the 5k/10k and dominate there. Niels Laros will dominate the 1500m for him and Europe will once again be the greatest distance running continent.
