Everything in her progression since switching to 14 steps suggest she will break 51.
Syd ran 51.46 in Tokyo and then 50.68 in Eugene at Worlds. Femke ran 51.45 in London and now she's running on pure hate so 50.94 is easily doable.
No one thought 50.68 was possible until it was. Come the finals, she will break 51. Guaranteed!
You going to get twisted and ban me for disagreeing?
Uh, no? I’ve never done that to anyone. And I certainly wouldn’t start over a discussion of whether Femke Bol is likely to break 51 in the 400h final 😂
I’m not going to “guarantee” anything about her time in the final because that’s foolish, as should be readily evident after the two track finals today. I’m merely saying that her anchor today showed neither the kind of form you’d expect from a sub-51 400 hurdler (remember, McLaughlin split 47.9 a few days after her 50.68), nor the significant dip in form that it would seemingly require for her not to win the 400h.
I hope she does run sub-51. I like her as an athlete and it would be awesome if someone approaches McLaughlin’s mark.
The video posted of her interview she says she cramped. Nothing to do with form.

Also Bol split 48.52 at Euros to finish up her triple there a year ago.
Downvote all you want, Hassan is an absolute loser for just lying there crying on the track 10m from the finish. Zero respect if I had any for her before.
Evan Jager was equally if not more devastated to fall in his only lifetime sub 8 chance. He got right up and finished. That's what you do.
She got up and was smiling. You are a stupid loser.
No one respects you. No one.
once you digest your glass of get over yourself you will admit I'm right.
But you won't ever admit it publicly, because you think "respect" is about who you do or don't insult from an unregistered account. You actually respect noone.

Hassan was no class for not even getting up and finishing.
So what if you missed the medals and are devastated. You're 10m from the finish and you're gonna just lie there and mope about falling? You could be 4th, 5th. Get up and get a result.
Now here comes the winner to console you and assist you to stroll across the line, even though the only injury is to your feelings. If not a technical DQ from an assist, that is still no class behavior for an athlete and competitor.
In an olympics a couple decades ago, a British 400 runner's leg about clean tore itself off from him on the 2nd turn, but he tried to get up and stagger forward, he wanted to finish so bad. His dad jumped onto the track and helped him agonize the last 110m on his mutilated limbs (a DQ of course) as the crowd wept and cheered in amazement. Hassan is the complete opposite of that.
Actually wasn't DQ'd, officially DNF. A better example would be that of Abby D'Agostino in the Rio 5000.
There are countless better examples of what to do when you fall in a race.
I don't care who copes at me, I'm right and I damn well know it. Her sponsor probably agrees - she just gave up a top 5 finish probably, top 10 for sure. No other racing sport would tolerate their competitor just plain quitting.

What happened to Hassan is very reminiscent of what happened to Gidey at world cross, so I’m sure Gidey is particularly aware of the emotions Hassan must be experiencing. I’m rooting for Hassan to bounce back and medal. As for the haters who feel she impeded Tsegay on purpose, I think that’s bs. She was in an all out sprint giving every last bit of energy to the point of collapse. Drifting is natural under these circumstances and Hassan always flails her arms. She was clearly at a point where she had little to no control over her body. Tsegay bested her and was going to win, but Hassan’s effort was laudable. As others pointed out, Hassan’s trip on the last lap was not ideal.
The problem with your analysis is that before she fell she kept looking to the inside so she knew she had drifted out. Instead of just putting her head down and staying on the rail and going for it she was trying to figure out where to block someone coming up on her.
Once Tsegay drew even she tried a last desperate measure to keep her from passing by moving into her. At least that's the I saw it unfold.

Misanthropic. You hate life.
You hate your own imagination, where an image you created of me torments you.
I'm right, you know it, what Sifan did is completely unprofessional. Why deny this?
A race car driver would lose the car for it. Can you imagine an NFL player just up and quitting on the field? Well it has happened, and guess what happened to his job. You either want a serious pro sport or you don't.

there is no prize, points, money or glory in a top 5 or 10 finish for somebody of her stature. you are not right. what you are talking about is not objective. it is your opinion.
she eventually crossed in 11th, 26 seconds after she otherwise would have.
Hassan may not have fallen if she didnt intentionally try to impede Tesagy. Run your line and accept silver next time.
....
I became a fan of Hassan because of her fearlessness but I saw her running trying to impede Tsegay and it did upset me. Karma is a mother. She will get a medal these championships if she can stay on her feet and run in a straight line down the home stretch.
Same. I'm a huge Hassan fan, but was so disappointed to see her trying to cut off Tsegay.
As others have said, karma bit her in the butt.
I will still root for her in the future, but I do like Gidey as well, and might start rooting for her more and more.

Yeah, she told JG she was aware she drifted. Ok, doesn’t matter. It’s sports and you do what you can within reason to win. That’s how it goes. Today Hassan lost, but she tried like hell, and I think she’s an awesome competitor. Let’s see how the rest of the meet unfolds, but Hassan is at least giving all of us something to talk about.

I’m sure that was merely pure desperation and survival tactics from Hassan. And idk how anyone could blame Tsegay for anything. She went perfectly wide enough and ran to the finish cleanly. Flailing in front by Hassan is not on her to swerve out of the way of.
Gutted for Hassan but she did run wide and I guess what happened is always a possibility from doing so. She’ll learn from this.
What’s not in doubt is: Hassan is back. It was also lovely to see Gidey check in on Hassan after. Great sportsmanship and reflective of this wonderful sport we follow.
I wonder whether the Ethiopian federation specifically ordered them to run as a team. Gidey must have known she had little prospect of winning with the strategy that played out in the race, but I think that team glory outweighs personal glory. You cant argue with 1st 2nd and 3rd placings after all Tsegay will always win a sit and kick.
Maybe. I do think Gidey’s lack of finishing kick has been overstated: she did manage to hold off Obiri and everyone else for the win last year, and today she closed in 43.6 for the final 300. Sure she’ll never have the top end speed of Tsegay, Hassan or Kipyegon, but she’s got some wheels. Yeah, I know, those are the women she’s trying to beat - but we saw what happened in Valencia, Bathurst and the Paris DL when she ran hard from the front from a long way out, and it was fairly warm and humid today, so maybe she just decided to go with the flow of the race and trust her finish. In any case, she seemed quite happy with the result today.

Yeah I think today was too hot for her to try to kill everyone from the front. She ran smart in my eyes as she was first at the bell whereas you could question Hassan for how far back she was. I feel like she was unlucky with how lapped runners were making the inside lane completely perilous. Just wasted energy and stress navigating that. I think it affected her a bit as instead of a pretty clean last lap there was a fair bit going on.
